that might require using a machined piece of steel that has a barrel where shaped pieces of lead inside an enclosed cylinder with some powder that explodes, and a mechanism that forces said encased powder to project said shaped piece of lead at a velocity approaching the speed of sound.

'Escorted to the ground', I'll have to remember that turn of phrase as it is pure awesomeness.
