fta With Keith Olbermann out of sight, Matthews essentially replaced him as the commentator that most annoyed conservative viewers.

Both of them?

Chris Matthews is an asshole.

HA!  You think that's funny?

FOX president: we report news.

If by 'Statesman' you mean bloviating asshat then sure.

Tricky dicky Nixon was a statesman.

/and a damn good one despite his failures

2012-12-29 08:56:52 AM
I'm a liberal and I can't stand the guy. He's MSNBC's version of Chris Berman. Both networks think people want to see the guy, but in reality if they fired them, no one would care in a week.

2012-12-29 10:05:15 AM
I like Matthews.

There, I said it.

Tweety can have bouts of awesome, but for the most part, he's not that good.

All pundits can go fall off very large cliffs.
/Not fiscal cliffs,actual cliffs.

2012-12-29 11:07:52 AM
Tweety is awesome. He's the only cable tv pundit I bother to watch on the regular. He can cite us political history off the top of his head and draw parallels to the discussion on the fly. I dig that.

There is a very vocal group that is annoyed to no end by both men. That doesn't mean they don't have fans. I happen to like them both. They both seem like they would greatly enjoy the smell of their own farts, but they're upbeat, energetic, and many people like watching them even if they don't agree with them.

This is the thing I hate about Matthews: When you've asked the question, SHUT YOUR FARKING MOUTH AND LET THE OTHER GUY TALK!

Seriously. He asks a question, pauses just long enough to trick the other guy into thinking it's time for him to answer, then starts talking again, either asking the question a second time or answering it for himself.

Leading up to the 2000 election, he did his best to paint Gore in a bad light. Once he helped get W elected, he pretended to be a sob-sister for the progressive side.

Maddow insulted him before her gig on MSNBC. To get her cushy job there, she had to publicly kiss his fat ass.

/I can count to potato head.

Charlie Rose does the same thing. Annoying.

Well, he states things by shouting you down and talking fast.

I love that there's an actual, somewhat LieBrul commercial news outlet for the TeaHadis to rail against.

djkutch: I like Matthews.

I do too. He can be a clown some of the time (ok, a lot of the time), but I can deal with him more than Hannity.

And I have a list with many words I could use to describe him. However, "statesman" is not on that list.

2012-12-29 11:53:14 AM
Matthews has the same energy and fervor as some kid running a D&D table. And as much connection to reality.

2012-12-29 12:01:32 PM
Why, yes. Yes he is. But that doesn't seem to be what the article is about.

2012-12-29 12:06:53 PM
Call me when Democratic politicians are called upon to apologize to him

Which is why I avoid all of them (minus the Sunday shows) like the plague.

ManateeGag: Chris Matthews is an asshole.

and you are a Republican crony capitalist pig who doesn't mind destroying the middle class, widening the wealth gap, and continuing to lick the upper 2%'s ass hoping they'll pass a crumb to you.

fair enough.

they report their version of the news. the version that pushes their agenda and satisfies their Owners.

you must be educated and honest. congratulations.

2012-12-29 12:48:50 PM
as far as i'm concerned, Keith Olberman was the best MSNBC had going for them, but Olbermann was too honest and a bit arrogant. honesty really antagonizes the Owners.

they prefer the Con. the bullsh*t. that's what sells and that's what keeps the little people under control.

Olbermann could always back up his assertions with solid sources, but like i said, he was too real and the brass fired him because they have Owners to please.

now you know who owns you and your news, Freedom boys.

Mathews is a Journalist with showmanship. he's on camera, so he has to be a showman to a point.

but he's not a liar or conman like the dredge of sh*t spewed out by Faux News.

Seriously, this. Why turn an interview into a monologue? Same reason I don't watch Bill Maher.

2012-12-29 12:54:07 PM
FOX News: if it looks like sh*t and smells like sh*t, its probably sh*t.

that's how worthless Faked News really is.

i've never seen corporate owned propaganda like that in this Nation. Never.

+1 all day long

Oh, BS. Any of these jackasses who spew lies to sell ad revenue, from Rush to Matthews, need to go away. I don't care if I'm more likely to agree with Matthews than O'Reilly, he's still a piece of crap.

2012-12-29 01:02:39 PM
FTA His 5 p.m. "Hardball" show has seen viewership jump by 24 per cent this year from 2011, 17 per cent for the rerun two hours later.

This is what matters to cable network bosses. This is money.

2012-12-29 01:18:21 PM
The only pundit show I'll watch.

You'd think that'd be Maddow what with generally being right, willing to soundly attack their arguments, and looking like a boy.

2012-12-29 01:25:16 PM
I like how the "both sodes ae bad" crowd always claim democrat pundits have character flaws. Yes, being a rude asshole is exactly the same as lying to manipulate an audience.

2012-12-29 01:26:14 PM
stupid phone can type "sides"

2012-12-29 01:35:31 PM
As a liberal, I can't stand Matthews. He's a lot of sound and fury, signifying nothing. But Tucker's blog needs a target, and if they tried to go after Maddow, she'd remind us why she's one of the few adults on both sides of the pundit aisle on cable. (Also, she'd end up owning them like she did Buchanan in '08)

2012-12-29 01:37:36 PM

ManateeGag: Chris Matthews is an asshole.

How many conversations have you had with him?  Or are you just unhappy that he disagrees with what Rush tells you to think?

2012-12-29 01:49:22 PM
LOL

2012-12-29 01:54:07 PM
Usually when Matthews talks over a guest it's because the guest ISN'T answering the question but repeating the talking points answer to the previous question.

He can be abrasive but he's still much better than most.

I'm pro-Tweety. Dude knows his stuff, he's passionate, and he backs up his views with real-world stuff. Love him.

Ed Schultz and Lawrence, on the other hand...
