Soymilk: Bilgewater: Male designers are misogynists. A cursory glance at women's so-called "footwear" (aka medieval torcher devices) will tell you that.

Male designers hate female breasts more than female feet. I have yet to find off-the-rack (heehee) button dress shirts that don't gap open in the front. Is it so hard to accommodate boobies in a dress shirt?

I think they hate women's hips more.

TSA is missing out on an opportunity here. Each time you go through the porno-scanner at the airport, you should be able to get a copy of your body measurements. Upload them to your favorite online store and you have an up to date fit.

Or you could just use the Kinect, though I'm not sure it has the resolution to actually get good enough measurements.

Women cannot find a pair of jeans without trying on at least (CSB) 10 pair of jeans. True size does not exist.

I used to be a size 12 then they "standardized" the sizes and overnight I became a size 8. Wait ... whut? Add to that pedophile or gay (NNTAWWT) designers who disdain women's breasts and hips and design clothing for the average 10 year-old boy and it's no wonder women are insane when it comes to buying clothing.

Don't get me started on "Size zero".

No seriously. Why do women allow this?
Yes, we realize that you have more frame bits to fit, but still.
bust, hips, waist, inseam, frame length, cup size
in the very LEAST you could demand these bits be consistently reported

Oh look my pants have a waist and inseam measure. TADA. they fit

CSB
bought a couple of pairs of the custom fit levis for my GF (back when they were still available)
You went to the store, they had you try on "sample" bits, to get the hips, waist and inseam JUST RIGHT.
You ordered a pair built to those measures. They get ordered and show up later.
She cried. Perfect fit pants??

My theory has been women's clothes designers are gay and angry at women.
Result = bizarre clothing sizes and pants with no pockets.
My SO can find no holes in this theory.

If every shirt you try does this, maybe it's not the shirt. You have weird tits.

The shirts that don't gap over the boobies billow out around the rest of my torso like a schooner at full sail. Help a sister out. What brands accommodate boobs and waists?

Snotnose: I like the web sites that list sizes as S, M, L, XL, yet never tell you how to translate those into inches.  Everybody's S, M, L, XL is different from everybody else's, I'm a 42, so does that make me a M, L, or XL?

I buy a lot of my shirts off eBay. Sellers will give you the measurements (e.g., width across chest, length from armpit to bottom of shirt, etc.) if their listings; if they don't, you can always message them to ask for specific measurements. All shirts that I buy this way fit well.

Oh, and since they're "previously loved" items, they've already been washed, so you don't have to worry about the first-time-laundered shrinkage.

Plus, since they're often second-hand, I get them real cheap.

Same thing with jeans. Seven For All Mankind jeans, my preferred brand, has a factory 34" inseam, which is perfect for me. I can buy a like-new pair of Sevens on eBay for around $30, which is more than $100 cheaper than a brand spanking new pair from the department store.

\kinda cheap
\\but well dressed

according to my after christmas shopping observations, i wear either a size 0, 1, 3, or 5 in pants depending on the brand and how much crack the designer was smoking and how much meth the sweatshop workers were plowing through on the day they were constructed.

Vanity sizing has become a real problem. I was about a size 4 when I was 20. 15 years later, even though my weight, height and body measurements have not changed, I'm now fitting in size 0's or even 00's. I'm starting to wonder if I will soon be a size 000 or -2 if this continues.

But I can see why clothing manufactures do it. I work in the bridal/special occasion industry. We have women who will come in and say "I'm a size 12". Then when everything marked size 12 is to small, they will LEAVE saying "Nothing fits me here.", rather than trying on dresses in a larger size that would actually fit them. The bridal industry does not vanity size. Their sizing is more consistent with what sizes were 20 years ago. Don't get me started on Missy vs Women sizing either. A 16 Womens size can be several inches larger than a 16 Missy size. And often it's just the brand that decides if thier sizing will be a Missy cut or Womens cut. This can really decieve women as to their actual size.

Same stupid article that has been floating around for years, it's a lazy space filler when they know people are not really reading.

If all sizes were consistent then 90% of women wouldn't find clothing that fits.

In the UK most women have a 2" drop (x/x-10/x+2), their hips are bigger than their bust. In Mediterranean countries the hour glass (x/x-10"/x) is more common. Asian women tend to a more rectangular figures.

Different suppliers chose to fit their clothes to the woman that they are marketing at.

Men don't get a free pass either, just because the leg/waist measurements are the same does not mean the trousers are cut the same.

fredklein: Ramen_Hotep: Men's sizes are also vanity sized. Your 42 inch waist is actually cut to fit 44 inches.

Nope- just measured it- 42" = 42".

And, in any case, a 'loose' 42 that is really 42-44 is certainly better than a "8" or a "10" or a "14"- what do those even mean? They aren't inches, or cubits- they're just arbitrary numbers.
