I call BS. He's Italian and couldn't solve his problems a cheaper way?

When I divorced my ex husband, I pretty much let him have everything, house, furniture, dogs and worst of all my stand mixer (don't laugh, the mixer was more loyal to me than he was) and thought I'd have to go to court to recover the down payment put down on our old house which was actually in his parents' name, not ours (long story not worth recounting) But, because my ex-inlaws are decent human beings, they returned most of my money, not all, but the remainder I would've lost in legal fees anyway. My current significant other had a pre-nup with his crazy ex-wife and he got out of his marriage relatively unscathed. When the day comes that he and I get married and that day is way far off in the future as neither one of us is real excited about hopping on the marriage merry-go-round anytime soon, we will have a pre-nup. Best idea for pretty much all marriages, regardless of how much or how little in assets and real property you own. Pre-nup. Every couple's best friend and defense in case things go rotten. That is all.

gilgigamesh: BTW, this is what Berlusconi gave up to chase around teenagers:

Yeah well, that's a pretty old picture.  Try a more recent one.

Looks like he made a pretty good trade to me.

Here's my pre-nup:
No matter what happens. No matter who does what.
If we split, all debits are hers and all assets are mine.
Sign it or no bone for you.

Oblio13: The average married couple supposedly has sex 58 times a year.

hmm....Some married dude is getting it twice a day to make up for my share.

martid4: And I biatched about $3200 a month for the past 15 years.

I'm at $5250 a month. Only been a year, though.

Not complaining, though. Life is too short. Being able to breathe again is too sweet.

gilgigamesh: What the fark is up with a guy who is 75 years old chasing around women nearly 60 years his junior?

Sure they look good, but teenagers are farking annoying.  I couldn't stand being around them for more than 5 minutes, let alone feign interest in whatever the fark they care about long enough to bed them.

I doubt he bothers feigning interest, and probably doesn't spend much more than 5 minutes with any of them anyway.
He's far too rich to have to deal with any of the annoying parts of tagging young girls.

marius2: "Wow, that sure is a lot!" I say before I notice this little key bit of information:  has agreed to pay 36m euros (£30m; $48m) a year

Yeah that's a ton.
If she lives for another 30 years, she'll have taken about 18% of his total wealth (assuming he never makes any more money).
Of course he will kick the bucket way before then. If he manages to live to that same age (86), she'll get only about 6%.

Yeah, I guess if they swelled up like a tick - why bother.

See? This is why the criminal element goes into government. He has enough leftover to pay her $36 million euros every year.

For less than 1 of those payments you could have hired a top notch assassin.

It says he's worth $6Billion. If he makes only 3% return annually on his total investments/worth then that is $180,000,000. So he's only paying $30,000,000 per year or one sixth the interest on his personal fortune. He can burn through a few more of these wives and still not even cause discomfort. No reason for him to be angry about it. He probably just views it as money earned by her.
