Here's an idea. Let's torture the dog. Film it and claim it's funny.

*One year we had a very harsh winter with a lot of snow and ice which led to loads of salt and chemical snow-melt on the sidewalks. Barkley needed protective boots because the salt was eating through his foot pads and he'd scream in pain and was unable to walk and we had to carry him home. Barkley also suffers from allergies which make his feet very sensitive to the salt and chemicals. The boots recently came in handy again when he cut his foot and needed stitches. They kept his foot clean and dry during his walks.

Putting booties on a dog is not torture. As written in the video description, it prevents paw injuries on this dog.
And even if the dog doesn't need booties, it doesn't hurt them, it's usually just awkward for a moment and then they're just fine with it.

Looks like you've had some experience with dogs in frozen climates...ever had an experience with Musher's Wax or any products like that?  Just heard about it...seems like it might be a pretty good alternative to boots.

Musher's Secret is really good protection for snow and ice. It's not so good protection for salt and ice-melt products that can burn paws.

I don't bother using booties for the dog running around in the backyard, but if we are walking in town where we have no idea what products people are using on their sidewalks, she gets booties.

I use "Musher's Secret" in the winter, but will still use booties depending on snow conditions.
One product I use year round is this.

So, booties aside, when did crayons become a doggie snack?
