In defense of Apple Maps, their 3D cities are done FAR better than in Google Earth. For every error someone points out in Apple's 3D renders, I can find about a dozen in Google's. They also have many more cities rendered in full 3D as well.

I see your point, but when something is heavily hyped and then fails, it's a better fit for an article like this.

I think Apple Maps works well where it works well (if that makes any sense). It works fine for some geographic areas, but is not consistent and you don't know how well it is working until you are lost.

This! I was initially influenced by the backlash, but then I had to get a new PC because my old one simply died and Windows 8 was all that was available at the moment. It took me 15 minutes to get used to it (without consulting any manuals or help screens) and I'm fine, and I had been on Windows XP since that was launched. I don't understand what the issues are with Windows 8 for the haters. It's another version of Windows. There's one new screen that I pretty much bypass right to my desktop and do whatever I need to do. What are the problems with 8 that I'm not seeing? It's not like 8 is BOB or ME, for heaven's sake.

If they'd have integrated Google TV into it, it would have. And that's the most baffling thing about the Q: not only was it a $300 device designed around a feature of dubious utility, it didn't even leverage all the resources Google could have brought to the table. The Nexus Q should have been the Google TV Nexus device, with the video-sharing bits as a value-add feature.

To be honest, I wouldn't have put it on there. It's more of an MSR project than anything, and not really meant to be a competitor to Facebook.

It's not so much clicking to advance that's the problem, but click ... wait ... read one tiny item ... click ... wait ... etc. Granted, I'm on vacation right now and the Internet is not the best, but having to wait for 30 seconds for the next slide after reading one is not fun.
