(ABC News)   Most blasé pilot you'll hear about today sticks plane in mud, shrugs it off: "Tower, 4695, We just made your day very interesting ..." ¯\_(ツ)_/¯   (abcnews.go.com ) divider line

No. Just register them and tax them heavily.

But what we really do is get rid of airports, then they can't use their planes to kill.

Okay. But you keep those dinky toys out of my hair and away from this plane for 15 minutes, maybe less. I'll DRIVE it out.

This wouldn't have happened if the pilots had guns.

Honest Bender: Maybe one of you Farkers can enlighten me... Why did they have to deplane the passengers just to tow the plane out of the mud?

Probably due to the depth of the front gear. It likely faster to bus the passengers back to the terminal and put them on a different aircraft than it would have been to tow the plane out of the mud, inspect the gear, and get it ready to go back in the air.

It takes a lot of weight off for one. The lighter the plane the easier it is to tow out of mud.
That and it takes quite a bit of time, there are other hazards associated (a gear collapse with passengers aboard would suck)...there are plenty of reasons to just bring a stair truck and a bus out there.

aaronx: Not much to get exited about when you are safe on the ground (even if you've had an off-taxiway excursion).

Agreed. Definition of a good landing: you are still in one piece, the aircraft can take off again, and right now no one is shooting at you while screaming "Death to {insert your nationality here}!"
