yadumey: I dunno, I really liked it. Then again, I like seeing alternative takes on established works. Gonna have to side with Guuberre though, a movie would've been better.

When Raul Julia died, we got robbed of whatever could have happened with the Addams Family franchise. This could have taken its place quite nicely.

twiztedjustin: I am totally not surprised that NBC won't continue the show. It was clearly entertaining and not liberal enough.

NBC is also home to Revolution, a show with a villainous black guy in power (Cpt. Neville) who is against gun ownership and ruthlessly collects taxes, and a hero 1%'er (Aaron) that Neville hates for his high position in society before the blackout. I thought it was a pro-conservative show.

I'm torn, based on many of the shows I think if they canceled it, there had to be genius in the design.

I liked it. I never get what I like. I'm going to eat worms now.

The pilot landed Bryan Singer as director and eventually assembled a cast led by Jerry O'Connell as family patriarch Herman Munster, Portia de Rossi as his wife Lily, and Eddie Izzard as Grandpa.

You could do much worse. The cast showed a lot of promise.

NeoCortex42: Mugato: The Addams Family was better. And in the movie version, Christina Ricci was hot.

Call off that Hanson prick, she's older than me.

"All your life."

They also managed to cast Gomez perfectly. John Astin was great, but I actually enjoyed Raul Julia's performance even more than the original.

Julia and Huston were born for those roles. Their chemistry was perfect, and, while the gags were great, the chemistry makes the movies work(as well as the stellar supporting cast).

What the fark is wrong with you? Christina Ricci was like 10 in those movies.

wildcardjack: TeddyRooseveltsMustache: Not exactly shocking. If they tried to re-work "Happy Days", I am sure the same thing would happen.

Also, I think it's worth pointing out that The Munsters was a horrid little show catering to baby boomers in their early teenage years. It's basically the 60's version of Beavis & Butthead. The reboot was already done, and it's called Family Guy.

Ha! You're funny, with your nose bleeding from being up there on your high horse. If TV is keeping your dander up that badly, change shampoos, and get rid of everything that brings such drek into your domicile.

I believe what he's saying is that he is younger than her and found her attractive then(and, consequently, still does now). You don't ever think of your middle school girlfriend and say to yourself, "Wow, she was hot"?

KatjaMouse: Put me in the camp that watched the pilot and liked it. I thought it was charming but dark and I loved Eddie Izzard and Portia DeRossi as Grandpa and Lily.

As did I. I thought the show had potential, but what do I know?

I liked it. Izzard really made it work, and I'm always up for allowing Portia to act weird.

But I recognize that the show was too weird and maybe a little too highbrow a concept for people in the era of Honey Boo Boo, The Voice, and Two and a Half Men.

I haven't watched the pilot, but I heard from a friend who was a big fan of the original series that they completely screwed-up the tone of the show. Big fan of Izzard though -- bummer that guy can't find a good show that sticks.

IIRC, Mugtao has said that he is in his mid 30s, which makes him roughly the same age as Christina Ricci.

I'm 42. My thoughts about Christina Ricci while watching Addams Family Values definitely would have set off the Chris Hansen alarm.

/don't bother asking, I'm already seated

Of course you wouldn't. Because they were ugly. They were ugly as children and they are even uglier as adults.

Sorry. I know that's not a nice thing to say, but there you have it.

brigid_fitch: Jerry O'Connell as Herman was an odd choice, though.

Not if you consider how much he looks like Lee Pace.

NeoCortex42: ...  until the writers' strike screwed things up.

When will the writers figure out that when they go on strike, they get more money for the rest of their current gig and then never work again?  The 2nd major strike brought in the reality tv crud and the last strike ended a number of shows as people figured out they had other options.  I figure the next writers strike will end the Hollywood TV business.
