I was born, raised and currently live in Calgary. This man is not very smart if he can't figure out why no one is showing up:

1. It has been -35 to -40 C, with windchill, for 2 weeks.

2. Every community inside the ring road has at least 1, and likely 2, free outdoor rinks.

3. Public skating indoors where it's "warm" is $2-3, at most.

4. Everyone who would play outdoors already plays some form of organized hockey anyway.

5. This guys property is in outer-nowhere suburbia and you have to travel through the Calgary ghetto to get there.

I don't think he's thought his cunning plan all the way through.
