It started snowing here in Indy this evening around 10PM.
It's a city that's full of monuments. Lots of monuments.
There's one called "The Soldiers and Sailors Monument", right in the center of downtown.
Indy residents simply call it "The Circle".

Every year since about 1960, it gets decorated with lights as "The Worlds Tallest Christmas Tree".
They turn the lights on the evening of the Friday after Thanksgiving.
I haven't been able to do much shooting this year, but I wanted to get some shots of
the Circle while it was lit and snow was falling.

While downtown Indy has a busy nightlife, it also has a certain degree of criminal element.
Walking around downtown, after 10PM, with an expensive camera that takes good pictures
is questionable judgement at best. So, I shot all my pictures out the drivers window while driving
around to shoot it from all directions..

Here's one...

reneau.smugmug.com

f/2.8, ISO 1600, 1/100 sec, handheld

If I get another chance to shoot it before they take down the lights, I may see if a
ham radio friend that's also a policeman would be interested in playing bodyguard
while I shoot them the *proper* way.

WTF? I have no sympathy for someone who's willing to spend 10,000 GBP (her own legal fees) for a cat. They must be rich to begin with, or just idiots. If my wife spent $1000 to get a cat back I'd divorce her or have her committed.

The family should just wait it out. That old biatch will kick off soon enough, or be hospitalized.

It is snowing here again. Eli is unhappy..I wonder if he'd wear boots...

I've done the same thing, at about the same spot.  I did get a cop to stand as bodyguard while I made my shot.  Had an expensive camera and an expensive tripod and it was before they had done much of the revitalization of downtown.  There were some areas that were really dicey.  Good luck to you, I love the circle at Christmas, especially when it's snowing.

Very pretty! There's a monument to George Washington in downtown Baltimore that is on a tall pedestal like that, and is decorated in a similar manner each holiday season.

This is one of the neighbourhood feral cats, he started to living in our backyard this summer (we have a shaded patio). We've named him Old Guy as he looks rather old. This is him enjoying his Christmas dinner of Turkey and Gravy (one of the other nieghbours feds the cat colony regularly). He currently lives in an insulated box in our back stairwell. It's a good deal for him as he gets a warmish, dry place to sleep and we like it because it keeps the other feral cats out of our backyard.

And so many of the symptoms just fit for low adrenal function.  Not two or three out of a bunch, but most to nearly all are a match for either just adrenal or adrenal with another gland thrown in.

Thanks for letting me ramble.

This can also be a symptom of too low estrogen or progesterone.

In my late teens an ob/gyn diagnosed me with "hormonal imbalance".  I really should have asked for more details, but it was probably too much or too little of one or both of those hormones.  That phrase is all I remember of the diagnosis.

The adrenal gland does work closely with the ovarian hormones as well as the thyroid hormones.  If I am right about the adrenal gland, those are the two main glands I have been wondering about as secondary suspects.

Although it seems everyone from my mother to the Dr. is leaning toward depression, I just don't feel sad all the time, let alone for at least two weeks.  Ranging from tired to exhaused, yes.  Sad, not so much.  Fully willing to believe emotional state is playing into hormonal levels, definately.

When I worked at a big box retail store I had a co-worker who called himself the "Tool King". Since I had so much experience selling power tools they wanted to call me the "Tool Queen", I discouraged this.

You and Lilyspad were smart to choose the hardware department. I worked in the flooring department of a big box store and my title was "Carpet Bag". Definitely picking another department NEXT time!

With respect to the original link, I'd have to side with the old lady. If I were renovating my house, I wouldn't rent anywhere that wouldn't allow pets, or would as a last resort ask a relative to temporarily keep the cat. Does this family also look for strangers to look after their cat for free when they go on vacation? Pet ownership is a lifetime commitment, and if you can't understand that you don't deserve a pet.
