Uh, no. The billions of dollars worth of stock options theses "journalists" counted towards his pay check? He can't cash them in for a few years. In terms of money received last year, they count as zero. Nada. Bupkis. Subby's I.Q.

Shouldn't it be The apples that Tim cooks take a 99% pay cut?

Another way of looking at it:  "You're hired, we'd like to give you your golden parachute on the front end."

I'd sure take that.

While they don't vest and can't be converted to cash for many years, they are valued as of the date on which they were granted, which equaled $375M. It not like all he got were SARs which would only be worth the difference between when he got them and when he cashes them in.

/personally, I feel SARs would motivate executives more, and hold them more accountable for farking up.

Perhaps subby is a fan boy and is scared that the company is tanking now that dear leader is dead and buried?

He got paid $375M in stock options.  What kind of special person do you have to be to pretend that isn't pay?

And I'm fairly sure he could take a loan using the options as collateral, paying no taxes on the "income".

Poor guy...only millions of dollars per year, plus hundreds of millions in stock options he already got.

Why, he's probably envious of those welfare recipients living it up on their food stamps.

I assumed that the fact that Adobe discontinued it on Android meant that. Even if you can still use the old version acquired elsewhere that's pretty much the death knell, isn't it? Flash has been crap a very long time, and better more open standards such as HTML5 and WebGL are rendering it completely pointless as they are far more capable anyway.

Why anyone would call Flash a selling point is beyond me.

the IRS. Options have intrinsic value the day they're issued. At that level, the IRS does have ways to account for it.

Well, at least that's how it's done in the civilization below the good old 38th.

I generally keep Flash blocked on my machine, but as of late, the rare cases I let Chrome execute it, it barely farking works. It can't manage to play videos. I've actually started to use VLC to view YouTube because Flash can't do the job.

You can actually set YouTube to use the HTML5 player instead of Flash:

I know you're trolling but he is already doing that. Apple's strategy is getting shaky, and their execution has ben less-than-perfect lately. The company will lose value without Jobs, anyone who thinks Jobs didn't add a lot of value to Apple is lying to themselves. Decimated is the right word, Apple will lose about 1/10 to 1/4 of its value permanently. As long as they hire from within, instead of some idiot move like hiring failed execs from other companies, they will be fine. It takes decades of working inside Apple to "think different" enough to run that loony bin, but it can be done. They'll have to start taking ideas from their people instead of from the top, and working for Jobs has probably left a lot of talent exhausted and looking for a break, so things will take longer at first and fewer ideas will work as well.

As for Flash, it sucks. It's the RealPlayer of the 2010s. I feel bad for flash devs who built their whole career on it, and becoming expert-level at HTML5 will take years. They should have known not to bank it all on a proprietary development system they knew deep-down was crap. Take it from a .net guy: you'll get over it.

I taught myself the core of Flash Professional in a week... At worst, it hardly a wasted investment... not to mention, its the exact same interface Adobe uses for their HTML5 authorer Edge Animate, so, now i already know thattoo.

There's no tool on the market that is better suited to create robust interactive multimedia applications than Flash... Don't use it for web pages? Fine, but thats one drop in the bucket for its capability. I'll be using it 50 years from now.
