I remember hanging out at the 7-Eleven with my friends during the summer in my tween years and eating a lot of microwaved Landshire sandwiches (washed down with a Slurpee of course). I can't remember the last time I ate one of those things, but they were a staple of my youth. I do remember the "roast beef" having a strangely rubbery texture.

The 711 by my house sells wings, pizza, egg rolls and all sorts of wacky stuff to go along with the obvious hot dogs nachos and remade sandos.

It pisses me off when some dick in front of me plays $20 worth of lotto then has the clerk walk across the store to get him a $1 slice of pizza.

7-Eleven should just bulldoze all their stores and start over from square one.

So....he has to order 20 bucks worth of pizza?

Settle down, Francis.

healthier =/= healthy

When I worked there we ended up writing off about 60 percent of the "healthy" food (turkey sandwiches, salads, yogurt, etc) on our shelves once it expired. But you know what we always kept selling out of? Hot Dogs and Nachos, along with our bags of "cheese" and "chili"

I know they're trying to change the perception, but given all the other choices for healthy eating out there, 7-11 isn't going be near the top 5 choices any time soon. But I guess it has to start somewhere.

The ironic thing is that if they actually put as much work into upping the quality of the "unhealthy" stuff they serve as they do into trying to change those perceptions, they'd probably make more money that way. A lot of it also depends on the market, as well. One store I worked at was right across the street from a bar. Every night it was pizza, hot dogs, nachos and taquitos flying out the door. I imagine if we were next to a health club or something it might have been different, but I doubt it.

I wish 7-11 still had arcade games. I spent many afternoons whacked out on slurpees and nerds candy playing that game where the conan-type guy swings the sword around.

except that 7-Eleven has been selling their own house brand of snack cake stuff for years now, and also has a weird mexican version or something as well. Haven't tried the latter myself, but the prior is comparable to Hostess' stuff.

here in hawaii 7-eleven stores all sell good food. chicken curry with rice, teriyaki chicken, inari sushi, pork chow main, char su pork manapua, macaroni with pasta sauce and cheese, somen salad, ect. they easily have about 50 different types of meals to go at any one time plus they are constantly trying out new recipes to see what people like. plus all the food is always fresh and delivered daily not that they have to worry about expired goods as despite having a store every 10 blocks their stock of food runs out every night. very different from when i lived in NJ, stepping into a 7-eleven there was a good way to get sick.

Yesterday, a coworker brought, for lunch, four 7/11 frozen hamburgers.

If you're eating food from 7/11, healthy choices are just not gonna happen.

In L.A. most 7-11s have fresh fruit available, at least the "basics" - apples, oranges, and bananas.

The game was called Rastan. I had to Google 'Conan arcade game' to find it online.

The hot food there is pure garbage in terms of being properly heated. I ordered 2 corn dog rollers, took them outside to some picnic tables, and as I was biting into one the breading part burned off every tastebud I've ever had, then my teeth entered a hotdog colder than a popsicle.

Another time I thought "I'll just heat it and give it a minute". I only microwaved it for about 5 seconds and it was to hot to even touch for 5 minutes. The rollers suck for proper heat distribution.

I've had plenty of taquitos from the rollers and they were always fine. I have never seen a corn-dog, stick and all, on those rollers.

Maybe they forgot to put the little sign out, and you grabbed from the back?

Those aren't ready yet.

I sound so fat.

My 7/11 sells whole fruit, cheaper than the grocery store too, which I find strangely odd.
