I'm currently reading The Passage, where the US government uses death row inmates as test subjects for a virus that they are trying to tame in order to enhance the healing capabilities of soldiers. Unfortunately, the raw form of the virus turns those killers and rapists into vampire-like creatures, and hilarity inevitably ensues to an apocalyptic extent.

I killed Nevarre on Hard mode with a knife without saving.
I beat the game using only melee weapons.
I beat the game without killing anyone except Nevarre (and I used the killphrase to do that).
I beat the game disallowing other non-player characters to kill each other, except 4 or 5 fatalities in Hell's Kitchen.

Deus Ex is my favorite game. May it live forever on my secret virtual optical drive on my thumb drive. I can play it on any computer without installing.

Our biochem corpus is far more advanced, and their...ethical inflexibility...is allowing us to make progress in areas they wouldn't even consider.

I forgot to brag that I beat Deus Ex without augs as well. Not even the flashlight. You have no idea how many flares there are in that game until you go no-flashlight.

I discovered you could crouch and melee the chairs of the NPC. Once destroyed, they have to stand, and they end up wandering around. Sometimes they get annoyed. On my second playthrough, I grabbed every dead NSF member the filthy UNACTO pigs had killed and piled them on Manderlay's desk, then destroyed his chair. He was forced to stand up and LOOK AT THE DEATH HE BROUGHT. TO CONFRONT HIS EVIL.

I love that game and I note the difficulty of your achievements too.

It's one thing to be mechanically enhanced due to loss of limb, and entirely another to be genetically engineered from birth. See the movie Gattica for an idea on how that would work out.

The Pentagon's human-alien hybrid program has been shackled with inefficiencies since the early 80's with Reagan's numerous budget cuts. Reagan, Weinberger, and Bush misinterpreted the reasons behind the Human-Alien Genetic Hybridization program's failure to deliver on their stated goals with their XXO-0079i prototype. They, naturally, saw things through their small government perspective, while the HAGH's problems were more rooted in the Carter administration's more holistic defense aims which neutered HAGH's funding and flexibility. The DoD pawned HAGH's responsibilities off to a number of defense contractors in an effort to spur innovation through competition, but the division of talent only resulted in a number of programs too small and lacking in expertise to produce human-alien hybrids with any real practicality. While the diversity of contractor backgrounds certainly made for innovative concepts, they simply were not feasible and the hybridization aspects were often overshadowed by the contractor's primary development aims.

Take for instance, General Dynamics' ill-fated "Dallara" prototypes which spliced Whadrian psychonetic genes with human fetuses which were then incubated for 15-months in a HGH/VZX-based slurry. The souls were then extracted in a F-class exorcism and placed in a Stryker. The soul would then utilize Whadrian sub-neural soothe-melodies to place passengers and Stryker operators into a hyper-aware fugue state. We all know that the initial results showed that the Whadrian-induced states were great for improving soldier awareness (soldiers spotting camouflaged enemies at over 15000 yards with only their eyes) and endurance (5.2 shots to the torso before experiencing any pain). But only one additional exposure to the soothe-melodies resulted in the soldiers' brains collapsing into themselves and leaving them with the same mental acuity as a Gila Monster. $1.6 Billion down the drain because General Dynamics did not have any communication with SAIC who had discovered this four years earlier.

All HAGH programs are under Pegasus Global Holdings now and are producing hybrids of some meager quality. Some nights I experience hyper-dimensional dreams caused by an accidental hybridization with a Vlan brain-fruit which show me where we would be if HAGH wasn't split up and I weep crystal tears. The decades we in Dimension AXDD1992855939221 lost due to politics getting in the way of hybridization is just that painful to me and my Vlan emotional cortex.

Read that book. It's a good read, reminded me of the better parts of The Stand.

Didn't care for the ending, as I was under the mistaken impression that it was a stand-alone story and not the beginning of a trilogy.

Thank you for the hilarious protip and the recognition. I also love to kill people by falling on them, but that's a feature in most every game nowadays.

I loved to aug my arms and legs to be able to pick up heavy objects and jump high. Oh the places you'll go!
