It's pretty hard to feel confident when you have jackholes in Congress that are playing chicken with an economy that is in a fragile state of recovery, and we're not 100% sure they won't just let the world burn for the sake of ideology.

It's only the Congress, the White House is an uninvolved observer?

I guess that response is slightly better than incoherent spluttering. Slightly.

That darn George Bush!

The White House has a smart president in it, who has access to smart people.
The budget-blocking Tea Partiers in Congress have access to their constituents, Fox News, World Net Daily and Breitbart.

I'm going to give great weight to that pair of facts as I make an educated guess as to who has sucked the wind out of the consumers' sails.

When the republican-controlled House votes down its own Speaker's proposal and sends everyone home for the holidays with completely scuttled talks?

Yea, I'd say that's a pretty fair, if ignorantly glib, summation. Unless your absurdly implying that the democratic president somehow shares blame in this for not moving to the right of the republican Speaker of the House to get the votes from the republican party that the republican leadership can't even get.

You keep on chugging that derpentine, though.

And yet had Pelosi released the Democrats it could have passed despite the clueless tea partiers....
Had Reid indicated a willingness to vote on any measure AT ALL maybe the Speaker could have gotten it rammed through.

But yes, lets make your simplistic view of Congress the version we go with.

Article 1, Section 7: All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives.

It is the job the the House of Representitives.

Oh, look, random speculation about what might have happened if....

...the republicans hadn't failed to pass their own farking plan.

But, no, I'm sure you have a point.

Watching the Republicans right now is like watching a retarded child with a loaded gun. They don't have a clue about what is happening to them, and they still think yesterday's playbook applies.

Plus, they are about to get trolled on the gun control issue. Totally clueless...

What's wrong?

We're told that Obama is holding all the cards and he gets what he wants if nothing is done. So what's to fear? At best the Republicans can give him more of what he wants and at worse gives him a lot of what he wants.

You can't say you hold all the cards and then cry when bad things happen. You can't be both in charge and out of power at the same time.

We? No, you are being told that because you choose to get all your information from partisan knuckledraggers with a vested interest in keeping you cowardly and ignorant.

Why yes, I do get my information on what left-wingers say from the left-wingers on Fark.

"I already get that for free."

"But but Obama isn't getting anything in this deal!!! WAAAAA!!!!"

Pick a story and run with it. Stop directly contradicting yourselves.
