fireclown: pxlboy: Personal insults do not dispute facts.

I'm not trying to be insulting. Nor did I append a "just sayin'" at the end. Merely saying that you're barking up the wrong tree here.

Not everything is a deep-rooted conspiracy.

DO NOT FEED!

Heh, I wasn't trying to. I said my piece and that was it. I don't feel the need to make it personal unless I am provoked into it. So far, it was fairly civil.

This. There's a Paultard that runs an emissions station down the road from me who has the walls inside his workstation plastered with Infowars and troofer propaganda. He is the cheapest around, so I kept the conversation to a minimum.

The page seems to auto-redirect now. It's clearly the reptoids.

I read one that said Aurora was mentioned in the Skyfall promo that ran before Dark Knight Rises and this explained Sideshow Bob. Which makes perfect sense if you sleep with your head wrapped in greasy towels.

Nevermind that there are seven Sandy Hooks in the US alone. It's like Main Street or Downtown. It's common.

Sandy Hook is a place in New Jersey - a National Park and wildlife refuge with saltwater marshes which is, for some species (endangered and non-endangered), the only place in the world in which they can be found. It is about a mile from where I went to high school and, if it still exists after Hurricane/Superstorm Sandy, one of my favorite places on earth. As many people use Safire's reference to refer to parts of New York City as "Gotham," Sandy Hook would logically appear on a map, since it's about a 30-minute ferry ride from Manhattan (and I've been on ferries that have done it in 20).

OhioUGrad: JonZoidberg: Day_Old_Dutchie: I remember when the movie The China Syndrome first came out, numerous pundits panned it for being an alarmist pile of trash - "there's nothing dangerous with nuclear power"

Then about a week or so after the release of the film there was the near-meltdown incident at Three Mile Island in Harrisburg, PA.  The pundits shut their mouths and went away.

One of the quotes of the movie actually went something like "an area the size of Pennsylvania" would be permanently uninhabitable from a meltdown accident.

Talk about a creepy feeling when I saw this in the theater.

Over the last few weeks I've been rewatching Scrubs. There was an episode from 2007 where the hospital argues the war in the middle east. JD asks the janitor what he thought, and he said "I think we should be looking for Bin Laden in Pakistan." I know that lots of people were saying that years ago, but I definitely had a double take moment.

Is that you that has been looking through my window with binoculars? I always felt I haven't been re watching those DVDs alone! *had the same double take HA moment*

OK, for those having trouble loading the page because you can't hit stop quickly enough to stop the redirect:

Right-click and copy the link(I did it from the Batman headline on the Bill of Rights story)

Paste it into the address bar. DO NOT CHOOSE 'PASTE AND GO'

Position your mouse where the 'Stop' icon shows up. Mine is the same as the reload icon.

Hit enter, immediately click mouse(On 'Stop').

Worked for me...

But all these things are coincidences and accidents, and there is absolutely nothing to see or think about or connect.

No pieces of this connect at all.

See guys, even the author admits that this whole story is all bullshiat.

As for WTC 7, keep in mind that until that day, NO high rise had completely collapsed due to fire, that day you had 3, 2 damaged by planes crashed into them. Also, a WWII bomber crashed into the Empire State Building once, and the building was more or less fine. It's not saying anything one way or the other, it's just why people are still asking questions. I at least understand that part.

Fact number 1 - In the movie "The Dark Knight Rises" there is a STRIKE in a district called SANDY HOOK

Fact number 2 - In the premiere of the movie "The Dark Knight Rises", on July 20, 2012, there was a massacre in a theater in Aurora, Colorado.

Fact number 3 - In the same day, July 20, 2012, someone posted a review about a horror movie called SANDY HOOK Lingerie Party Massacre in a blog, and the review starts with the following: "So here we have Sandy Hook Lingerie Party Massacre. Let's say that again, SANDY HOOK LINGERIE PARTY MASSACRE! What do you think of when you see that combination of words? What's in a title anyway? Does it have a cryptic meaning? Who is Sandy Hook? What on earth am I writing about?"

Fact number 4 - In the horror movie in question, SANDY HOOK Lingerie Party Massacre, from the year 2000, the plot says there is a serial killer who strikes AFTER hurricanes.

Fact number 5 - There was a very strong hurricane in November 2012, called Hurricane SANDY, that affected the whole Northeast of the USA, including both the town of Sandy Hook, in New Jersey (where the horror movie is supposed to take place) and the village of Sandy Hook, in Newtown, Connecticut.

Fact number 6 - Less than one month and a half AFTER Hurricane Sandy, a serial killer enters SANDY HOOK Elementary School, in the village of SANDY HOOK, in Newtown, Connecticut, and kills dozens of little kids in a horrible massacre

davidphogan: italie: Every day Fark gets a little closer to resembling all those conspiracy forums...

Do you ever spend time on any conspiracy forums? This is nowhere near as crazy as a lot of those. One I looked at yesterday had a bunch of people trying to link a movie called the Sandy Hook Lingerie Party Massacre, made in 2000 about a crazed killer who strikes after hurricanes, was a warning about Hurricane Sandy and Sandy Hook Elementary, as was a review a British guy posted on the day of the Aurora shootings.

To make it weirder, most everybody using the site was supportive of that conspiracy.

I did say "a little bit" closer

It fell at free fall speed through the path of greatest resistance. There was molten steel found, on December 13th at ground level despite heavy rain and fire suppressants being doused on it. This can be caused by something known as Thermite.

Thermite is not, in fact, some sort of magical super-explosive, no matter what the truthers think.

It's powdered aluminum, iron oxide, and a binder. Basically, aluminum and rust. I made some in my high school chemistry class *mumble* years ago (long enough ago so the teacher said "hey, don't do that" instead of having me arrested for terrorism). The critical thing about thermite is that it doesn't explode; it burns. It burns really hot (and puts out an impressive amount of white light, which is what alerted my chemistry teacher). For this reason, it's great for cutting things. It will burn happily right through anything in its path until it burns out.

But it's still not a magical super-explosive. Or any kind of explosive.

As I understand it, the truthers' basic idea is that the WTC towers and building 7 were destroyed by a controlled demolition -- the typical "building implosion" that companies like CDI do.

There's one critical thing they're leaving out: It can't be done overnight, or even over a weekend. The setup. For even a small building it takes multiple weeks at a minimum -- and this in a totally vacant building, where as many demolition workers as needed have a total right to be at any time they want, and to do their work openly. They don't just hang a few satchel charges from some pillars, either. They spend those weeks drilling carefully-placed holes to weaken support columns, sometimes even cutting away parts of those columns, and further holes to put their charges in. Exact timing is critical so the detonation is usually computer-controlled. And for even a small building, it requires enormous amounts of wire to connect each series of charges to the controller to set it off at the right time. Again, you can't do this overnight. You can't do this over a long weekend. You can't do this over a couple of weeks. And if you're doing it on the sly -- somehow rigging the WTC to collapse with nobody knowing what you're doing -- it would take probably a year or more. What are the odds that nobody in all that time would notice what was going on? This is not a neat, tidy process.

Then there's the sheer number of people who would have to be involved. This is not something that Joe Boomo can do. There's a reason people who want their buildings demolished call in professionals (and if you're trying to do it in secret, you certainly don't want some amateur botching the job and leaving the evidence around in plain view, where every single person, not just a few "elite" people on the Intarwebz, would see it). So not only would the staff of at least one, probably multiple, major demolitions companies be involved, but they'd be working on it for weeks or months. They would of course all have to be keeping the secret. So would their families, who would otherwise question why Daddy and his whole company went to do some secret work for two months and wouldn't say what it was. So would their other clients -- if nobody could book time with a demolitions company for the months of July or August of 2001, they'd notice. So would the entire maintenance staff of the buildings in question -- too easy for them to notice something amiss otherwise. We're talking about a conspiracy here involving literally thousands of people ... a conspiracy to cover up a government committing mass murder of its own citizens ... and supposedly not a single one of these thousands of people blew the whistle? "They threatened their families" wouldn't work on all of them. There are plenty of people without families -- or whose families would agree that exposing this horrible crime and enormous cover-up would be worth the risk -- to blow that whistle. Think about it: thousands of people who were, and still are, keeping the secret of a staggering crime for over a decade now.

And then we get to the matter of the airplanes. Four planes and all their passengers, to be exact. If they didn't knock down the buildings, where did they go? Were they all somehow secretly "disappeared", even the ones on Flight 93 who were talking to their families on cell phones?

If the government wanted to do this ... wouldn't it have been easier and simpler (Occam's Razor here) just to suborn a suitable number of Al-Quaida members or just wanna-be's and point them in the right direction? Why go through all this elaborate hoax involving months of time and thousands of people when you could do it with just 19 people and kill them in the process?

One final note about building strength: In my old hometown, many years ago, a drugstore burned. Think your typical CVS (it was actually a local place called McLanahan's) with a floor or two of small apartments above it. Like most of the people in town, I wandered by to look at the resulting ruins a few days later. The thing I noticed most particularly was that a heavy steel I-beam which crossed the store from side to side (probably supporting the upper floors) had sagged like a wet noodle. No thermite. No explosives. No jet fuel. Just the stuff you'd find in your typical CVS, with a bit of an emphasis on stuffed animals in university colors. And the center of that beam, over a distance of perhaps forty feet, had sagged a couple of yards. Typical structure fire, remember, and the fire company was on the scene very quickly. Now scale that up to a multi-story building whose entire structure depends on the rigidity of steel beams ... the same kind of steel beams that lost their rigidity so readily in the McLanahan's fire.

The issue is, you are attempting to have a rational conversation with a conspiracy theorist. Occam's Razor doesn't help at all. If you point out how difficult something is, or how long it would take to accomplish, Or how absurd numbers of people would need to be involved to make this conspiracy happen, all you have done is show how far-reaching, powerful and insidious the conspiracy is.

Worldwalker, BSABSVR:.

The towers had extensive maintenance done to the elevator shafts prior to 9/11. This process was long. The elevator shafts have direct access to the support beams. If you look into the company contracted for this job and the security company for the trade centers you find some interesting people, such a Bush's brother. The records of the type and duration of 'work' that was actually performed on the elevator shafts has conveniently been destroyed in the collapse and the company conveniently has no comment.

Furthermore, saying it would have been easier or more convenient to do something one way does not disprove it was done another way.

There was a 'stream of molten steel' flowing at ground level, one firefighter described it as "like lava flowing around a volcano". Countless witnesses of multiple explosions 'boom boom boom boom boom one floor at a time'

Why are people so resistant to this hard scientific information?

To begin to accept the possibility that the government is involved is like opening Pandora's box, it challenges your fundamental view of the events and thus world view. And if you look at your view of the world as your home, you will defend your home. This is known as cognitive dissidence.

Don't believe me, ask the people that do this for a living: Experts speak out

Really, though, this is how I deal with argumentative people IRL, by not raising my voice or resorting to name calling. Being calm in the face of someone who insists on starting a fight is the surest way to derail them.

You know what, I DON'T MOTHERFARKING CARE!!
Why don't you take your deluded mind back into the grimy basement you crawled out of and mastrubate to fetid donkey porn or what ever the hell you jack off to. You know what, I got it. I know why your talking about all this conspiracy derp anyway. It's because your sense of self worth is so pathetically small you need to know something that regular "Sheeple" don't so you feel superior. For the love of god, put down the Alex Jones pod cast and go see a doctor.

You don't appear to have a lot of company in this thread. Probably best to bow out now rather than continue to dig that hole.

Personal insults do not dispute facts.

I'm not trying to be insulting. Nor did I append a "just sayin'" at the end. Merely saying that you're barking up the wrong tree here.

Not everything is a deep-rooted conspiracy.

I am enjoying this conversation more than the rest of this thread. Quite gentlemanly of both of you so far.
Don't quit on me now.

Really, though, this is how I deal with argumentative people IRL, by not raising my voice or resorting to name calling. Being calm in the face of someone who insists on starting a fight is the surest way to derail them.

I'm not saying he was being combative, but that there was no need to escalate things. Thank you for the compliment.

I put you on my favorites list a while back, as you do have a certain way with words and an interesting demeanor. So many knee-jerkers on fark seem like petulant teenagers, so a sane and sober person here is refreshing. Aside from the great puns and the funnier comments, it is guys like you that keep me here.
At the same time, I have no argument with tonight's 911 conspirator either. I do not agree with him, but neither do I put any faith in the things we are told by the press and/or govt. I'm just a lone wolf, I guess.

Hey pxlboy. This is what I was talking about. I feel like I'm back in Jr. High again. Does this guy actually think that his comment will possibly improve a conversation, inform and enlighten anybody, or matter in the least? It's just a waste of precious internet tubes space.

Most of what we know about 9/11 was told to the commission by Bush and Cheney. It would be foolish not to question the facts. Those two have never uttered a word that wasn't a self serving lie.

Not saying it was a conspiracy or controlled demolition. Just likely that all the little details are told in a way to make them forever blameless for a huge intelligence failure. Luckily they called it terrorism right away, unlike 0bama. Benghazi!!!!!

fireclown: LookForTheArrow: Mister Peejay: Is there anything in the article about how the whole movie was nothing more than a right-wing propaganda piece detailing how the proles wouldn't know what to do with money if they had it, and the government is useless, so we should just give everything to the .1% since they are the only ones capable of handling it?

^^^ THIS

In that piece, no. But a lot of people have. Also of note is the theme in the last two movies that a compelling enemy of the state legitimizes the issuing of extraordinary powers to a sitting head of state. Damned if Nolan didn't make the only right wing movie series in ages right under everyones noses.

"I've had as many conversations with people who have seen the film the other way round. We throw a lot of things against the wall to see if it sticks. We put a lot of interesting questions in the air, but that's simply a backdrop for the story. What we're really trying to do is show the cracks of society, show the conflicts that somebody would try to wedge open. We're going to get wildly different interpretations of what the film is supporting and not supporting, but it's not doing any of those things. It's just telling a story. If you're saying, 'Have you made a film that's supposed to be criticizing the Occupy Wall Street movement?' - well, obviously, that's not true."  - Christopher Nolan

With respect, you three should be careful about putting words in someone's mouth.

Indeed. I never even considered Bane as a critique of OWS, what with all the allusions to Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

I had an average size fire in my house this year, the ceiling separated and collapsed due to the heat. The sound it made was for all intents and purpose an explosion, it even rattled the windows next door.

Wayne 985: Yeah, I found out about this through Alex Jones and his "Sandy Hook is a hoax" nonsense on YouTube.

I hate that guy so much, very single national tragedy and he makes it into a "Government did it!" conspiracy theory.
