Well to be fair, they are just trying to stay current with their viewers.

To be fair, when you hire women based on their dick-sucking ability things don't always go as scripted.

WTF Indeed: To be fair, when you hire women based on their dick-sucking ability things don't always go as scripted.

I disagree, as long as you keep their part of the script to "mmmmmpffff".

The Lorax one still blows my mind. Obama somehow convinced Theodor Geisel to write "The Lorax". At 10 years old, Obama was more influential than most of us could ever hope to be.

Just Fox being Fox. I don't think they've done anything to become crazier this year. Honestly they've dialed back the derp a little bit now that they don't have Glenn Beck anymore.

I put it on last night and could only last 2 minutes. "The reason fast and furious wasn't a scandal.. well you see the media elected Obama and the media loves Obama and would never do anything to paint Obama in a negative light."

Yeah that's enough of that...

9. Obama responsible for huge JP Morgan loss.
8. 'The Lorax' is indoctrinating our nation's children.
7. EPA has been using drones to spy on US farmers.
6. Sandra Fluke was an Obama plant to create a controversy.
5. Unemployment rate has doubled since 2008.
4. Gay adoption leads to depression, suicide.
3. Women in the military should expect to be raped.
2. Trayvon Martin's hoodie was responsible for his murder.
1. Newtown shooting caused by absence of 'God'.

To be fair, if you're a woman in the US military, you should be not expecting, but at least concerned about being raped. Especially if you're stationed overseas or in a combat zone.

Of course, that's not what Trotta was saying, but it's still something a female in uniform should know.

Is Doocy for real? This guy is either a complete moron or acting the part. Generally I tend towards the moron answer. However, every once in a while, he says something so stupid that I think he must be acting.  I mean, his name is perfect for playing the moron role. Too perfect.

What the fark does that mean? Should the men also fear rape? Why should the women who serve our country be more accepting that something horrible could happen to them than their male counterparts?

I can't imagine being constantly outraged and in fear like Fox viewers seem to be.  It would be exhausting.

Not accepting. Cognizant. Wary. Never accepting.

We should call it something like, oh I don't know, "aggressive lovemaking duties." That'll make it acceptable, right?

Everyone is at risk in a combat zone. However it has been widely reported that in some areas overseas women have to escort each other to the latrine at night or risk sexual assault. From assailants wearing the same uniform as them.

That sounds like a serious problem to me, but nobody should "expect" to be raped for serving.

2012-12-27 12:58:12 PM

red5ish: 6. Sandra Fluke was an Obama plant to create a controversy.

This one is hilarious for a few reasons.

1. We're supposed to discount Fluke because she was already an activist and not just some random girl they plucked off the street. Nobody tell Fox that Rosa Parks was a civil rights activist and not a random woman who liked to ride the bus and one day suddenly got sick of sitting in the back.
2. If this was all an elaborate plan from Obama, either Rush had to be in on it or they had to somehow know that a girl testifying about birth control would have left Rush with no option other than viciously attacking her as a whore for three straight days.

lots of women in the military get raped. a whole lot. He(the farker, not fox news) wasn't saying they should be accepting. but that they should be aware and concerned.

Well, we always had patrol helicopters looking for Mary Jane patches in the corn, so I don't think the drone/farmer thing is all that far fetched.

I'm a big fan of the "Boys will be boys" defense that Fox seems to be plying, ESPECIALLY in a combat situation.

If you think rape can be the product of any normative social conditioning outside cultures that could generously be described as Bronze/Stone age you're not worth having a discussion with.

Rape of Nanking, Comfort Women for the WW2 Japanese Military, the sack of Badajoz by the british, The behavior of Napeloens Grand Army in every country they conquered, Rape in Ethnic Cleansing.

All the result of sociopaths?

Commander Lysdexic: All the result of sociopaths?

Yes? Sociopathic behavior brought on by prolonged trauma, breakdown of discipline, permissiveness of authority figures, etc. Rape, like murder, is not the product of a healthy mind; except unlike murder there are never any mitigating factors.

That last one - who is that, Pawlenty? He looks like Buchanan 20 years ago - You could...sort of see towards the end of his comment that he knew he was digging himself a hole and didn't know how to get out of it. I knew a woman in college who thought Rush Limbaugh was the awesomest awesome who ever awesomed, and every once in a while you could see her doing the same thing...she'd be saying some opinion that was reprehensible, and as she was speaking she would sort of wind down and her eyes would dart about the room. She had just enough awareness to know that by the time she had said what she had said, she would be in trouble, but not enough to keep her from saying it in the first place.

A few of the others do the same thing. You watch them make their comments, and then they suddenly realize that they're going to blurt out something really stupid, and they just can't stop. There are plenty who just stroll on through, but a couple of them have enough insight to realize that what they believe in their hearts won't necessarily play on television.

I really want to believe that Election night woke her up to the bullshiat she's been peddling.

That said, until she starts adopting more of Shep's traits (and maybe throwing in a few apologies for her past behavior), I'm just going to keep her in the same category of women I've mentally catalogued - the ones whose hotness is matched/eclipsed only by their stupidity.

But those were the normative societies at the time, and plenty of technologically advanced and "enlightened" societies are represented. Are they not worth talking about?

What about college fraternity or athletic culture, or the culture of binge drinking, when rape becomes an accepted part? What about the culture of the police forces in India? Not worth talking about?
