Hey, Mods, while you're fixing Subby's "einringe" typo, you could make him look like a bit less of an idiot by replacing "copyrights" with "trademarks".

And Subby, maybe you should slow down with your rush to hit submit, proofread your headline, and maybe even glance at the article:
Your book(s) contains references to the trademarked term, "Star Wars (Trademarked Term)". We have reviewed the information you provided and have determined that we will not be making the book(s) available for sale in the Kindle store at this time. While we cannot advise you on trademark laws, we encourage you to conduct your own research by possibly going to your local library or using other online resources that may be available to you.

Well it is no flap over the term Battle Droid, but it still gets a cease and desist letter.

/Geek history The first edition of Battletech was called Battle Droid, but Droid is a copyrighted word and the sole property of Lucas Studios.

They are very protective of the trademark. Verizon has to pay them for the use of the trademark on their Droid branded phones.

And a much better game was enjoyed by many for it.

No kidding, "Battle Droid" just doesn't have the same ring as battlemech or just 'mech.

(1) Take books back.
(2) Replace every use of the words "Star Wars" with "(fark You)".
(3) Re-release.

As a future self-published author, I trust that Amazon's model will guide the future of publishing.
WTF is that supposed to mean? Is that a line he's tried to use at Starbucks to hit on the barista? I haven't written my book yet but I will and then when it gets turned down by publishing companies I'll publish it myself. That takes laziness and mediocrity to the extreme and combines them in some sort of a forced marriage of patheticness.

/Oh and subby sucks at headlines too

George Lucas and Harlan Ellison should pool their douchiness and sue all their fans for eleventy trillion dollars.

Some folks now are completely skipping the 'getting turned down by publishing companies' part. You need an agent to really help get your work into a publisher, but finding a literary agent that works with a specific genre can be a pain in the ass. Most publishers are no longer accepting unsolicited manuscripts. If you're writing anything sci-fi/fantasy/horror, good luck trying to find an agent and/or a publisher even accepting submissions.

But yeah, calling yourself a future self published author is dumb.
