Dallas? I don't want you goin' to Dallas at all. That place is crawlin' with crack-heads and debutantes, and half of 'em play for the Cowboys.

Count this cheesehead as a newly-minted Redskins fan. I hate the farking Cowboys with the intensity of a thousand suns.

America is a bandwagon fan. The Cowboys win another Super Bowl, and watch how many of these Steelers "fans" trade in the black and yellow for a Witten jersey.

2012-12-27 11:40:49 AM
You mean a marketing slogan created during the 80s and dovetailed into the 90s when some of the greatest players of all time were on the team doesn't really apply anymore after nearly two decades of mismanagement?

Next you'll be telling me that stars are huge balls of burning matter instead of holes poked into the black sheet that God wraps the world in when we go to bed.

2012-12-27 11:40:59 AM
Well, since this is the last regular season game for the Cowboys we won't have to keep hearing, "Will this win be the start of a Cowboys turnaround?", story that comes after every Cowboy win.

2012-12-27 11:41:04 AM
To be fair, there are surely some people in Texas who would also like to see them lose.

2012-12-27 11:46:16 AM
Bigger news?  Skins have been winning in their burgundy jerseys.  And actually playing in them at home.

//Redskins 27, Cowboys 17.

My only fear as a pack fan is that we might have to play the red skins in a week or two, and I won't get to scream at the tv that the qb should be eating grass every play.

I think we'd beat them easily, but I don't want to root for someone on the other team in the playoffs.

2012-12-27 11:47:24 AM
Seriously, who would YOU root for, a charismatic young man with talent oozing from his pores, well-spoken, self-effacing, highly intelligent, mature beyond his years, or a pretty good quarterback who has at times let his personal life overshadow his play on the field, has a tendency to fall to the occasion, and has won a total of one more playoff game than Griffin (who has yet to appear in the playoffs)?

Griffin came from Baylor. I'm sure they'd be quite happy with him winning.

The victor gets the crown of the most competitive, yet overall average division.

I live in RGIII's hometown here in TX. There are a few people here who have been wearing Redskins gear this year. It certainly won't be all tears here if Washington wins.

DeAngelo Hall has about a 50% chance of being there (barring inevitable meltdown/suspension on Sunday), so there's that.

He can't cover, but he does manage to jump the occasional route. Some argue the Skins should trade Cousins for a secondary.
I disagree; the way he plays, Griffin is likely to spend a third of the season in the shop, so a quality backup is a necessity.

I'm a skins fan but I'm starting to agree with you on Wilson. I'm just sick of hearing all the Luck supporters dream up stats for why he should be ROY. It's clear to me its either Griffin or Wilson, and if either one makes a deep playoff run its going to be the deciding factor.

It's gotta be Griffin. Look at what he's working with. I'm a Cowboys fan & I hope the Redskins lose every game from here to forever, but I think we all know that Bobby Three Sticks is a national treasure. Nicolas Cage is gonna try to steal him just any second now.

Uh, the Redskins, despite the awesomeness of Bobby Three Sticks, are still the Redskins. No secondary, poor d-line, no great receivers beyond Garcon. Plus Dan Snyder still owns the team, and he's a big reason the Redskins haven't had a division title since the Clinton administration.

They could easily lose on Sunday. I hope they stomp a mudhole in the Cowboys and walk it dry, but I see it being a close game

In all seriousness, I came by my Dallas hate the old fashioned way. I grew up in Buffalo. Dallas stole a Stanley Cup and absolutely embarrassed the Bills in consecutive Super Bowls. I could be wrong but I recently read that the Cowboys haven't won a playoff game since that last Superbowl. Is that true?

In my personal experience, Cowboys fans are not any worse than Steelers fans or Patriots fans for being obnoxious and then making excuses when things don't go well. shiatty season? Point to victories long, long ago. But it's more than a Buffalo sports fan can do, so what can I say, really?

Bet against the Cowboys until your hands bleed.

Cowboys:
Rushing offense: 31st
Passing offense: 3rd
Run defense: 17th
Pass defense: 21st

Washington:
Rushing offense: 1st
Passing offense: 18th
Run defense: 5th
Pass defense: 30th

Plus, another extremely discouraging factoid:
The Cowboys didn't record a sack last week, in fact they only registered two hurries. TWO!

Wulfman: I could be wrong but I recently read that the Cowboys haven't won a playoff game since that last Superbowl. Is that true?

That is not true.
The cowboys have been to the 2nd round twice in 6 years, and defeated the Eagles in back-to-back weeks to record their last playoff victory in 2009.

That is not true. However, the truth isn't much better. We won one playoff game under Wade Phillips a few years ago. We did have a first round bye one year, so we've made it to the second round twice.

I think you need to update your fan databse, honestly. I'm sure Cowboys fans were obnoxious in the '90s, but that has given way to a lot of self-loathing & biatching among the fans (not me, of course, since I'm basically perfect). After Aikman left, there was a very dark time in which nothing worked. Terrible quarterbacks, awful coaches, locker room mayhem. There was no pride to be had. But then we got a nice QB (hate all you want, but.... stats), cleaned up the roster (later on, Pac Man; get lost, TO), and got ourselves a halfway decent coach. So now it feels SO CLOSE, but just out of reach. I watch a lot of Cowboys games with fellow fans. It's less "we're the greatest team in the world" and more "waaaaaah we're terrible," even when we win. To ME, that is the most annoying thing about Cowboys fans. Can you not just enjoy some flargin football occasionally?

Wulfman: /the "America's Team" thing is simply old-school trolling on every other team

We didn't even name ourselves that. Someone completely outside the organization made it up.

Not thrilled about the 30th ranked passing defense going up against the 3rd ranked passing offense. I detest the Cowboys so much that I don't draft any of them in fantasy on principle, but Romo, Witten, Austin, and Bryant are dangerous when they're clicking. If we wound up with a 30 point lead in that game I still wouldn't be comfortable.

2012-12-27 12:41:48 PM
....and of course you heard that because people loved trotting out the "NO PLAYOFF WINS LOLOLOLOL" thing about Romo, and then as soon as they did win their playoff game against a division opponent, instead of quieting the screaming it just made it louder. "ONLY ONE PLAYOFF WIN LOLOLOLOL"

And if they by some miracle make the playoffs this year, and Romo throws for 400 yards and 4 TDs and they win you'll hear "ONLY TWO PLAYOFF WINS LOLOLOL".

Heh, I flew into Buffalo on the morning of game 2 of that series and was there for 5 weeks (I was installing new satellite dishes and putting servers in all the Rite-Aid pharmacies in that area).

That was the closest thing I've ever seen to my native Green Bay when they went back to the Super Bowl in the 90s. farking awesome fun the whole time.

All you have to do is go to the actual ESPN poll.... even in TX, Cowboys are only up 55-45 % in "fandom".

And that was the point of the poll.... not "Who do you think will win", but, "Who do you want to win".

That is a big difference.  I mean, I'd expect it to be just slightly favoring the Redskins on "who do you think will win".

I've been living in Virginia for about 15 years so I get a lot of the Cowboys/Redskins stuff. It tends to bring out the worst in Cowboys fans. I guess I'm willing to believe that it's not the same elsewhere.

Since I am a Cowboys fan living in Redskin territory, I'll root against Washington no matter who they play.

But damn, their offense with RGRGRG is fun to watch. I do think as much of the success the Skins have had this year is due to their running game. Alfred Morris has had a great season, taking much of the burden off of RGRGRG. Washington, unlike Dallas, does not have to throw the ball 40 times a game to win.
