Wait... you're not talking about that troll link from fark a few days ago, where a blogger wrote that he looked at the schools website and he saw that a couple of police officers were part of the security review board of the school, so he assumed that they must have armed guards, right? Please tell me you're not talking about that troll link. Nobody on earth actually fell for that, did they?

Do you not understand that assault rifles are fundamentally the same as any semi-automatic hunting rifle? Banning the ar-15 will result in the ban of hundreds of thousands of hunting rifles.

But you you don't care. You would rather only organized crime have guns so that you can prevent something more rare than hitting the lottery.

here comes that gun ban:

http://www.feinstein.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/assault-weapons

"Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds"

that covers basically all modern guns besides revolvers and bolt action...

Same.

I have lots of conservative friends on Facebook, and as a general rule, I don't de-friend people I disagree with politically. I don't want o live in a bubble of self-reinforcing views.

But I did do a round of de-friending of people who made pro-gun and pro-gun right post in the days following Sandy Hook. I concluded that such people have a value system and worldview that is so completely alien to my own, that there wasn't really even any point in trying to engage them on it.

Bad laws in particular should be rigidly enforced exactly to the letter. Letting people who are white rich male and popular go with just a scowl and a warning keeps them on the books longer and farks over those society does not so highly value.

True, but there should be a combination of bans. There is no need for a semi-auto rifle, there is no need for high capacity magazines. There is no need for automatic weapons. Why in god's name do we allow that crap? Suck it up. You're pissy that the thing you love kills people and people are starting to notice. Get a safer hobby. The second amendment says nothing about personal protection. It states that firearms are allowed for the defense of the states and we're all allowed a well-regulated militia. We have the national guard units, which are controlled by the governors of the states. Why do we need a "militia" too? We're enabling people to stock up on military grade weapons to feed their paranoid delusions.

I don't understand what the David Gregory image with "When the Government Agrees With You" caption is supposed to mean. When the government agrees with David Gregory, he may be cited for a firearm violation? When the government agrees with the NRA, a talking head will wave a banned item on the TV?

Sounds good to me. People can still bear arms, just not those that really should be restricted to the military and the police.

If you really want a gun as a civilian, shotguns, revolvers, and bolt-action rifles should be able to meet all legitimate purposes in terms of hunting, target shooting, or if you subscribe to the belief that guns have some kind of deterrent or self-defense value against burglaries. While at the same time almost completely eliminating the potential for spree shootings and mass public slaughters.

On page 3 of my paper this morning was this article.

Now, if as it sounds, NBC asked for permission and was told it was illegal then did it anyway then there may be something to this. He could easily have done his show and tell with an image or video. They could have filmed him fondling his child killing device while in some location where it was legal. It would be stupid to defy the police as they apparently did.

As usual, you misrepresent what I said because you can't bear to actually read the truth. All I was saying, and have said many times that I don't actually advocate such, is that if real gun control legislation were to happen, it would require about a mass shooting a week for a year. Why is that so difficult to understand? Are you reading-impaired?
