I know one who won't be there.

The Chefs have been playing two hand touch all year, so this makes sense.

Wins in football are about the best team, but the probowl is about the best individual.
/or the most hyped individual

I think its indicative of the where the Chefs are currently at. They have a good core of very talented players, just awful leadership/coaching and horrible QBs.

I wouldn't go that far. Like his father with Carl Peterson in 1989 (read about his exploits in the USFL- Peterson was a GREAT hire at the time), he hired what was far and away the best candidate for the job- it just didn't work. He was hands-off and let Pioli run the franchise as he saw fit.

As for the five players thing, I'm going to copypasta what I said in another thread-

I'm annoyed that name recognition continues to win out over more deserving players. On my team, for instance, Jamaal Charles, Dustin Colquitt, and Derrick Johnson absolutely deserve the spots that they got, as they are the ONLY bright spots in an otherwise miserable year and continue to play every down at full speed when they have every reason in the world not to. Tamba Hali and Eric Berry, however, regressed in a major way (Berry in particular somehow forgot how to cover TEs during his year off), and they need to stay at home.

It makes perfect sense for their punter to be going, he probably gets a lot of work.

New rule. Cannot have more Pro Bowlers than wins.

2012-12-27 12:23:46 PM
Doh, since this is the new probowl thread, I'll say what I said in the other one:

Jeff Saturday going to the pro bowl is a travesty. You're the center on one of the WORST olines in football, and you play SO BADLY, that you get BENCHED mid-season for a 3rd-year second stringer....and go to the PRO BOWL?

While a certain center over in Minnesota, whose line is blocking so well that Purple Jesus is gonna crack 2K yards by himself this season, DOESN'T?

Toilet bowl, more like it.

Look, Jeff's a nice guy and he's had some good years, but he's liquid ass right now and doesn't even deserve a starting spot, much less a pro bowl.

2012-12-27 12:25:12 PM

If you want to inflate your count, just submit stuff to the politics tab. Generally there the headline of the article or first sentence of the article is good enough.

And this is why the Pro Bowl is a load of mutual-masturbating bulls**t.

Personally, I'd rather have a "bronze medal" game, between the losers of the AFC and NFC Championship Games, the week before the Super Bowl.

I'd rather the Pro Bowl stay a week vacation in Hawaii for the players, then they all get together and play as themselves in one giant 106 player simultaneous game of maddden, complete with the coaching staff calling plays and referees.

Maybe that way we can get an actual game rather than this pushy-pushy two hand touch bullshiat. Otherwise, just hand out ribbons and write checks and call it a day.

I'm actually ok with it. Most business owners only have to focus on hiring the right people to run the day-to-day operations anyway. Plus, the new rules will force him to spend to 90% of the cap, and he's not actively trying to underspend the same way that David Glass was before the Shields/Myers trade. Not every owner can be the 1000% awesomeness of the Cerner group that runs Sporting KC.

/Seriously, it's up there with Qwest and the Big House as one of the best stadium experiences in the US despite holding around 15,000 people.

By the time most players opt out due to the SB, or are 'injured', 5 Cheifs were going to end up in the game anyhow. This is just cutting to the chase.

The salary floor does keep him from being too cheap. However if I'm an owner of any business and see my head of day to day operations driving away players, staff, coaches, etc I think it's time to pay attention. Btw Glass since 2006 and the hiring of Moore has become an actual active caring owner.

I'm still trying to figure out how the Rams didn't have any. they're 7-7-1 with wins over the 49ers, Seahawks and Redskins. But the Chiefs, who didn't even have a lead in a game till November get 5.

^^^^^ This times 1000000x. I haven't been able to see much of the Panthers, but the recent game against the Raiders had me going "damn." Guy was all over the place, and playing well the whole game. He was robbed, but this is the Pro Bowl, so go figure.

As I said in the slashies, Kuechly deserves to be the starting middle linebacker. He's been the only player on that defense to play at a consistently high level. He's an ideal 4-3 Mike; he can cover the run sideline to sideline and he defends the short passing game very well.

seumasokelly: Kuechly isn't even the best rookie MLB in the NFC.

I don't know about that. Wagner's got more turnovers, but he also gets a lot of help from a good defense. Kuechly is often an island of quality in a lake of shiat.

neuroflare: *cough*Daryl Washington*cough*

This is my problem with voting for defenses. There really needs to be more flexibility, because a lot of what players in the 4-3 and 3-4 do now is vastly different.
