He paced the floor all night and instead of calling law enforcement showed up at the theater expecting to get the weapon out of lost and found. Some 7th graders found it instead.

Every instance of a neglectful CCW I can provide plenty more of cops being even more neglectful. A lot of them are still cops, even. That CCW holder you pointed out had his CCW revoked.

If you are smart with your kids about guns, not much worry about them finding one. My 3 & 5 year old know two rules if they see a gun. #1: Don't touch it. #2: Tell mom or dad (or an adult).

As a pro 2nd amendment gun owner, I would hope that if you leave your loaded gun in a LL Bean fitting room, at the very least you would lose your CCW permit. As well as reckless endangerment charges.

It's funny you should say that, because at the restaurant I was working in a few months we had a police officer leave his fully loaded service pistol on the back of a toilet seat and not remember until an hour and a half later when we had already turned it in to the Portage police (Michigan).

You'd think it would be the ammunition going up, not the guns(and not guns which play no part in shootings where the offending weapon is an "assault type") but who am I to try and figure out policy? Current laws being proposed have been proposed before for the mentally ill, and have been passed, but not funded.

If I found a gun under these circumstances the first thing I would do is unload it. Wondering who made the observation re the bullet in the chamber, someone who knew how to unload it or someone peering down the barrel to see?

I don't have that choice, with what little I get for take home; yay HUD housing. Guy was murdered outside my building last year in a drug deal gone bad. Everyone knew he was a drug dealer, so aside from his family, no one really cared about another dealer in the gutter with a few holes. 2 months ago some dude was making a buy across the street from my apartment and tried to stiff the dealer. Yeah, he's explaining to St. Peter why he should be getting into heaven and not roasting. I think it will work as well as did his glibness with his dealer. That said, I have little doubt that someone who has gotten all the way to my door will not listen to reason when I tell them I have a gun, and it is pointed at them through the door. Should they really want my TV and stuff, they'll have to get past the deadbolt, the latch thingy, and the lock on the door handle. Past all that, if the cops(2 blocks away) aren't there, I'd feel free to let loose with a few rounds.

Rock Island Armory makes fine entry level (inexpensive) 1911s, made in the Philippines with a lifetime warranty; they have a service center in Pahrump, NV with pretty good turnaround time if you ever need to send one in.

How does that feel? It looks kind of uncomfortable.

Certainly more noticeable than wearing than a belt holster, but the advantages are it is basically invisible (which I think is a crucial advantage - fellow got arrested in CT last year because another patron in the restaurant noticed he had a gun in a holster, but street clothes, and called the cops from the restaurant and told the cops a mass shooting was under way, more or less - and open carry is legal in CT - charges were dropped), you can carry a big gun (S&W Sigma 9mm with a laser) and you can't lose the gun in a movie theater or the can.

If I found a loaded gun in a restroom, I'd probably keep it. I know this is against the law, but the temptation would be too much for me to resist.

Plus, their American-made goods are top notch. I have a pair of duck boots that are older than I am...and they're in near perfect condition. They'll outlive me.

If you care about quality, you'll pay a tad more. I have two LL Bean corduroy jackets that I love; they're high-quality items. Yeah, they cost more than anything cheap that Old Navy has ever produced, but Old Navy doesn't come close to meeting LL Bean's quality.

I love Colts and hear good things about Kimber, but Auto Ordnance is a great value if you don't need lotsa bells and whistles.

show me a Colt 1911 with bells and whistles, and I'll show you an enthusiast will too much time and money. Better to put that money towards another piece, not change the ones you have. Unless you are a gunsmith making something from scratch, of course. Local gun shop has a 1911 for way too much, but it would be more had the owner not modified the gun with new sights. Nickel plating didn't fare the "improvement" process too well.
