Meh. We had Japanese candy with edible wrappers when I was in grade school.

Seems like a really bad idea. I imagine kids everywhere eating inedible wrappers thinking that they are the edible kind and endless hospital visits ensuing.

If you're really hungry you can eat the napkins and toilet paper.

I thought part of the reason for having a wrapper was to keep it clean - so the cashier could grab a wrapped burger and put it in your bag without having to wash hands or put on plastic gloves after just taking your dirty money and so you could take it outside to a picnic table in a public park that had only ever been clean by rain and no doubt had some bird shiat on it and set it down on the table while enjoying your meal.

So are they going to have to wrap the edible wrapper in another wrapper?

I thought the main point of the wrapper was for hygenic purposes?`

I saw this elsewhere in the past week. I had this thought exactly:

Happy Hours: the reason for having a wrapper was to keep it clean

But traditionally, there were lots of attempts at edible wrappers. Grape leaves, pastry shells, taco's and burritos. Some of these also eliminated the need for utensils and plates. But we experienced a level of prosperity where we insisted on hygiene and got paper wrappers. And the paper was cheaper and easier than reusable plates plus washing.

Oddly enough, I'm feeling like going out for a burger now. From a place that doesn't use wrappers.

Have you ever been so hungry that you actually munched on your burger's paper wrapper without even noticing?

No.

It happens to me all the time.

Your mom must be proud.

As opposed to the hospital visits caused by burgers. To be fair, the paper wrapper is probably the least unhealthy thing you could ingest at a fast food burger place.

It figures that those God-forsaken heathen foreigners don't know any better than to eat paper.
They probably worship their french fries with live sacrifices.

I tried my first burrito the other day. Gross. Rice does not go with cheese and tortilla. Dairy rice and another starch is a bad way to start a dish. Sans rice and with a bit of cabbage to add some crunch was much better.

Cool huh?

You have led a very sheltered life. They don't all have rice and if it does have rice it should be "mexican-style rice" and should just be a small amount.

Unless you order the rice burrito at John The Mexican's Totally Authentic Mexican Restaurant in England or something.

I still wouldn't eat the wrapper for hygiene reasons. I assume the same person taking the money will be the same person placing the food items on my tray and money is host to many germs among other things. I am not a hypochondriac, but I don't want to increase my risk of getting sick. I don't eat fast food very much anyway.
