I always give a sad chuckle when Jewish people claim to be a race.

/Of course that silly claim is always followed by...
//We must murder the children of Palestine.
///Irony is a sick mofo.

Maxor: Porous Horace: A Jewish couple from The Bronx embark on a year-long journey through China. One day, in a very small village in a remote Northern area they see, to their surprise, a synagogue!
They rush in and sit down, as services were just starting.
After the service they ran up to one of the congregants and asked/exclaimed "Hey - you're Jewish?!?" and the man replied "Yes, we are all Jews here."
Excited by this revelation they blurt out "We're from NY - and we're Jewish, too!"
The old man looks at them askance and says "Funny, you don't look Jewish."

What language did they use in common? If it was hebrew or yiddish then no one speaking either language would be surprised that another speaker of the same language was jewish.

It was Ladino.

What a scam:

Wikipedia: "The claim appeared after a Pentecostalist dreamt in 1951 that his people's pre-Christian religion was Judaism and that their original homeland was Israel. Linguistically, Bnei Menashe are Tibeto-Burmans and belong to the Mizo, Kuki and Chin peoples.[4] They are called Chin in Burma. Prior to their conversion to Christianity in the 19th Century, the Chin, Kuki, and Mizo were headhunters and animists[5]"

What a scam.

Oh please. They converted to Orthodox Judaism before or just after getting to Israel so now they count as more Jewish than American Reform Jews.

Then there are the immigrant Russian Jews who are uncircumcised, know even less of halakha than a Reform toddler and have a taste for pork: these people are Jews by ancestry and by Soviet nationality law, ethnic rather than religious Jews. Many of them are not in Jewish in that sense (link).

And some don't even want to be says this article in Forward (link). To quote from it:

Only those who can claim a Jewish mother will be accepted as Jewish by the state sponsored Chief Rabbinate. And the Chief Rabbinate, with its exclusive jurisdiction over marriage, will only register marriages performed in Israel if they are between a man and woman it judges to be Jews. Others seeking such recognition must undergo an exclusively Orthodox conversion in Israel that is approved by the Chief Rabbinate. It is the Rabbinate's strictness on this matter that has helped generate the crisis the now stalled conversion legislation seeks to address.

These people are not even interested in formalizing their status as Jews so their marriages will be recognized. Many of them are even joining Christian Russian Orthodox churches in Israel.

I pity any Jew who thinks I'm some kind of Torah scholar, but my hunch is that sincere converts to Orthodoxy from anywhere of any ancestry are bound to outrank quasi- or pseudo-Jews who "slipped through the cracks."

Note that "the Law of Return also grants citizenship to the spouses of Jewish immigrants and to anyone who has at least one Jewish parent or grandparent - the latter a criterion influenced by Nazi Germany, which used the same standard in deciding who was liable for discrimination and oppression under Nazi law." Halakhically many of these people are actually goyim, but they get in because nascent Israel needed Holocaust survivors in order to outnumber the Arab Palestinians whose land they hoped to steal and also because it was impolitic for the Zionists to go "Pity us into a land of our own because of the Holocaust!" but to reject a lot of Holocaust survivors because being Jewish enough for Hitler wasn't Jewish enough for them. Israel is stuck with these "plane people" because it's too much trouble to change the Law of Return to favor only mitochondrial inheritance, let alone strict observance: many of the Zionists' non-frum or Gentile supporters and funders would turn away and eventually the land would again become a part of Syria.

Imagine what would happen to the Syrian Uprising if Assad attacked Israel: even Al Qaeda would have to avoid being thought to side with Israel, though they might not fight as part of Assad's army. Now imagine that happening after Israel's stream of money and military hardware from abroad dried up and half of Israel's populace had taken to the streets in protest against "Judeo-fascism." The present regime in the State of Israel is simply not strong enough to go it alone, which is why they'll even sup with Jerry Falwell's ilk.

These "children of Mannaseh" might not have been "really" Jewish before they immigrated, but I can't picture them being anything but ardent Zionists if Israel is attacked; while the Russian "Jews" might well sit it out (and the criminal element among them makes money from both sides), and some might even be a 5th column for the devil of Damascus.

For Israel it's not a scam, it's a bet that they hope will pay off, given the rising Arab birthrate and the declining Jewish one. If I could prove one Jewish grand-dad they might even take me: I could claim I'm an "Anús" and point to my circumcised willy as evidence of a "family tradition of Jewishness." As long as I put down my pork chop long enough to shoot some Arabs they wouldn't chase me away. It would be even better if I sincerely converted to say Lubavitch before I showed up yelling "I wanna kill! KILL! KILL!!!"

If it's a scam it's the "children of Mannaseh" who are the victims, being flown in as future cannon fodder on The Wings of Eagles (link).
