FTA - "Actor-filmmaker Ben Affleck has also been mentioned as a possible candidate.

Well that would just be very silly.

yes, but he sounds like my father who was sure that as soon as Ted Jr. would get into the race, it would push all the other contenders out because "he's a goddamn Kennedy...in Massachusetts"

To all those who will say "but but but they elected Joe Kennedy this year!", Bielat was a carpet bagging douchenozzle, that's why he lost. Joe Kennedy at least seems real and more like his father and grandfather.

/I am happy that Teddy Jr. isn't going to run

Affleck is sillier. Also, those others are very silly as well. Jesse the Body as governor? How is that not silly? The other two were California government officials to start as well and...well...I mean. That just goes with the territory as far as I can tell.

And Al Franken, and Helen Gehagan Douglas, and that guy from "The Love Boat," and Mr. Drysdale's secretary from "The Beverly Hillbillies," and I'm sure I'm forgetting some obvious ones.

I have a theory that the end of days will be ushered in when all the stars of the original Predator make it into US elected office.

2 down. I think we dodged a bullet back in '04 when Sonny Landham ran. Bill Duke and Carl Weathers still need to take a swing at it though.

I doubt it. Political dynasties have been the norm forever, and it's no mystery why. Aside from the usual tendency of a lot of kids to want to get into the family business, whether it be plumbing, law, show or business, politics in particular is a business in which growing up around it means you have contacts and experiences that make it much easier to break in.

Don't forget about Cooter from the Dukes of Hazzard. Ben Jones served two terms in the House.

Fred Thompson acts? I watched him on Law and Order for years, but I never noticed him acting.

From what I heard back in the day, the Minnesota governor is more of a figurehead position.  They have some sort of 3- or 5- person commission that actually does the executive branch stuff.
