I can see this for three reasons:
1. The last one was an historic event without parallel in my lifetime (I'm 50). Many people went because it was unprecedented and treated it like a pilgrimage.
2. It's a second term, so the presidency isn't changing hands.
3. The bloom is off the rose and everybody has realized that Obama is just another politician, not all that much different than the old white guys that take the oath every four years.

2012-12-26 08:31:34 AM
So?

2012-12-26 08:43:01 AM

SilentStrider: So?

It means people have wised up about the Muslin in the White House, and Sarah will be President any day now. Duh.

2012-12-26 09:20:22 AM
they've scaled it down dramatically from ten balls to just two.

heh, balls.

2012-12-26 09:31:58 AM
It's like rain in his wedding day.

2012-12-26 11:06:16 AM
This is bad news... for oh hell, I couldn't give a shiat if I tried.

2012-12-26 11:06:51 AM
Well, last time; Obama ate a horse's heart. It is kind of hard to top that.

2012-12-26 11:07:07 AM
Who goes to an incumbent inauguration speech? Its in Jan, a cold month. If they really want to listen to Obama's speech, they should just turn on CSPAN or any other broadcast partner who shall be transmitting it

2012-12-26 11:07:53 AM
Well that does it. I'm voting for the other guy.

2012-12-26 11:08:06 AM

FlashHarry: they've scaled it down dramatically from ten balls to just two.

heh, balls.

The events may be few in number but they surely won't be small,
For we all know Obama has the biggest balls of all!

2012-12-26 11:08:28 AM
20% of the events and you still have 47% capacity. Sounds like a win, not a fail, Subby.

2012-12-26 11:08:46 AM
If they can't even produce a valid ID, I doubt they'll be able to afford/get on a plane to DC.

2012-12-26 11:09:33 AM
Subby's pimp hand is true.

/What you did there...
//I see it.
///I wonder if Obama invited Mitt to the festivities?
////Cause that would be the greatest troll of all time.

Also confirms that the re-election of a Republican House was a massive affirmation of the GOP agenda and Obama MUST give in to all Boehner's demands.

2012-12-26 11:10:13 AM
That's because it's not free.

2012-12-26 11:10:13 AM
It's easier to get a hotel room for the inauguration than the Skins-Cowboys game this weekend.

2012-12-26 11:11:00 AM

SilentStrider: So?

Can't add to that.

2012-12-26 11:12:05 AM
Now if it was IMPEACHMENT reservations, all the hotels in a 50-mile radius would be booked solid!

2012-12-26 11:12:23 AM
Big f*cking deal

2012-12-26 11:13:10 AM
The inauguration is going to be a very low key affair this year. Obama will be taking the oath of office in the White House, as it's traditional not to have a public ceremony on Sunday. And the number of events is going to be severely curtailed. Besides, the entire country seems to be in a state of depression after Sandy Hook, and going over the fiscal cliff (thanks, republicans!) won't make people feel any better about lavish government parties.

So unlike W, who had the most lavish and over the top inauguration in washington history during a time of war, Obama has enough self awareness that he shouldn't parade around like King shiat of Turd Mountain.

Keep thinking that Romney lost because illegal aliens voted for him and other unproven types of voter fraud and NOT that the GOP's policies and ideas are on the wrong side of history. It makes it easier for conservatives to keep losing in the future.

2012-12-26 11:13:52 AM
This means something.

2012-12-26 11:14:25 AM
Haha, Fartbongo, you got reelected and have to suffer through the lame, second-term inaugural party. YOU FAIL!!

2012-12-26 11:14:36 AM
If they made one legitimate data comparison, I missed it. I'm not saying the numbers aren't down from the first inauguration of the first black president, just that they didn't present any evidence of it.

2012-12-26 11:15:03 AM
Ctrl-F "47" 0 of 0

Wait a minute, that number seems familiar somehow...

2012-12-26 11:15:39 AM

Pants full of macaroni!!: Now if it was IMPEACHMENT reservations, all the hotels in a 50-mile radius would be booked solid!

And I'd be buying stock in Rent-A-Hoveround.

No, he lost because republicans realized that Obama was going to continue to screw up the economy and it couldn't be rescued. So, with that in mind, let him taint the hell out of the democrat party so they get another 12-16 years of power after businesses have finally recovered from Obama's dicking around.

They're still doing the big, public swearing-in on Monday, with the parade and everything. They have cut out the big galas before the inauguration, and cut the number of official balls from 10 to 2, but it's not like they're going to just skip the pomp and circumstance.

Did you know he has not just one, but two black children? Fact.

Could be the economy is still in the shiatter?

Yes, Obama's been so bad for the economy! It's only been consistently improving in every measurable manner.

Well, they're each 1/4 white, so technically he has 1.5 black children.

This just totally jump started my morning. I was expecting a low key, blah first day back from Christmas break and then you just throw out comedy gold like this. Thank you!

Republicans let him taint the Democratic party...lol.

Watching you argue is like watching a group of electrical engineers try to work on a Linux server. Just because you're clever doesn't mean you know what the fark you're doing. Persistence might pay off at some point, but ... leave it to people who know.

The method for which unemployment is current calculated is drastically different from that used to create a historical baseline that aforementioned method's data is compared.

Unemployment is higher than it was during the worst period of The Great Depression.

But lets get something straight: Obama didn't cause this. Obama has made it worse, but really, what better option has he had? It's like when you're in Vegas and spent too much money at the tables. You have a good bit of money, enough to possibly win back what you've lost, but not enough to get home. What do you do? Let it ride.

sure, when your first election is "changing the course of history" and your second election is "just don't let the crazy guy win" it kind of changes things

Nina_Hartley's_Ass: If they made one legitimate data comparison, I missed it. I'm not saying the numbers aren't down from the first inauguration of the first black president, just that they didn't present any evidence of it.

They are. I work in the industry and I can tell you we're getting a decent amount of calls, but NOTHING like the kind of craziness from the first inauguration where it was non-stop and people were begging us to find room for them. But...... this one being more low-key is exactly what everyone expected all along. This story really deserves the "Obvious" tag.

The first inauguration was a historic occasion, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see history in the making. This is just the same guy getting sworn in again... I mean, it's cool and all but nothing like the first go-round. The urgency just isn't there.

2012-12-26 11:28:34 AM
This means that Romney is automatically President and Donald Trump gets to foreclose on the White House.

tuxq: Unemployment is higher than it was during the worst period of The Great Depression.

citation needed. I failed to notice nomadic groups of men looking for work, traveling westward. I failed to notice the round the block bread lines in downtown, maybe they took the week off. Or maybe cincinnati is just immune to the super depression going on around us.

2012-12-26 11:31:22 AM
For the inauguration, I think the winner should get to kill and feast on the flesh of the loser in front of the audience. That's the best way to establish yourself as the Alpha of the group.

2012-12-26 11:31:51 AM
Heh.. I remember when the right tried to spin W's 2nd inauguration as them toning it down due to the war and trying to spin it as if W gave a shiat. Good times, good times

The second inauguration is never anywhere near as big of a deal as the first

I just *CAN'T* wait to see what happens when they elect B-Rock the Islamic Shock a third time.

2012-12-26 11:40:12 AM
I would have gone, but it conflicts with my unemployment consultation.

2012-12-26 11:40:35 AM
All the years Ive lived in the DC are and IVe been around for all the 2nd inaugurations seem to be more low key than the first. Last one was teh big one in my lifetime. My roomate was working downtown at a hotel and it was booked solid for the week of the inauguration. Her and her coworkers needed special security badges to get in and out and one night she slept there in the closed rooftop restaurant. I still wanted to get one of those red "prostitution free zone" signs that were up all over around the mall.
