People who are in a rush to enact gun legislation in the wake of an emotional tragedy should keep the TSA in mind.  Warrantless nude searches of every flyer and humiliating groin pat-downs of children and people with medical devices like insulin pumps and breast pumps.

I really can't blame them.  Mind-numbing $15 an hour job, stressful conditions, asshat customers non stop.

Tell me why I should care if an anonymous mall cop level employee sees my beer gut in a scan?  Better them than me.

What did they thing they were going to have going on if you put a bunch of guys in a room looking at "nude" images?

Some guys act bad enough in public in the first place (not that some women don't act inappropriately as well).

I WISH I made 15 dollars an hour.

And, speaking of the TSA's nude viewing rooms, it's only a matter of time before someone leaks a disk FULL of naked passenger photos taken from those x-ray machines. It's going to happen, somehow, at some point.

Anonymous should make that their next project.

Great. Makes me glad I haven't flown in over 12 years. This is why I am against Congress Members being allowed to create laws that they never have to follow. If everyone in congress had to go through the TSA and be treated just like everyone else, this shiat would end. But when Congress is allowed to set in their metaphorical Ivory Tower and pass laws that they instantly exempt themselves from, this is what happens. If I ever get my hands on a time machine, I am going to show the founding fathers 2012 and drop them off in front of Congress to explain to our senators and HOR how this is against what they wanted.

I had that thought as well. The people who screamed to be made safe from the terrorists are the same ones screaming about the guns...and we all see the BS they caused last time.

I'm sure that there was someone who said, back in the day, "I'm fine with packing into a cattle car as long as everyone has to do it. Sure is a long ride to this camp, hope they have showers available when we get there."

I don't have a problem with them laughing at my nekid body. I think it's pretty funny too.
I DO have a problem with "arbitrarily punish disgruntled passengers by subjecting them to unjustified and pointless luggage searches

2012-12-26 10:59:30 AM
I've observed something interesting the last 6-7 times I've flown. Small sample size i admit. I opt out of the scanners due to medical reasons. I get the speel and they ask why and I tell them I have a node the size of a golf ball on my thyroid. Actually it's big enough if them to clearly see it. I'd like to keep it benign. So I wait for a female assist and during that time a TSA officer is generally pretty friendly abd talkative. Each time I've flown the TSA agent says "really? I have some of those too"

I really want to go through the process with a radiation badge.

They aren't low paying.
They aren't people with barely a high school education.

This idiot writing the blog is just looking for more hits. If people want to look at a radar image of me naked I couldn't give a shiat- just let me get through security quickly.

I'd like to also add that the invasive pat-downs are still less than the groping one receives at a club.

Then you have a problem with petty authority.  As a frequent flier, please do time your outburst for the moment *after* I am already through my scan this week, because I have a plane to catch and really don't think I need to be witness to another citizen snapping at the mall cop with the police scanner and zero incentive to treat you well after you go off.

If everyone that said they had a problem with TSA actually, oh I don't know, organized and did something about TSA?   We'd have revisions probably within a year.

Instead, you phonies just whine about the 1 in 10,000 incident you read about that was bad, then you whine about how much you think your liberties are being infringed, all the while sitting around doing nothing to help or improve matters.  Your silence at the subject outside of anonymous forums is part of the problem, you know.

I travel most every week and opt out every time. To me the pat downs are no more obtrusive than naked scanning. Someone carries all your stuff for you away from the chaos and you have a private quiet area to get your stuff back together. I hated doing the one leg hop while someone pushes your stuff away from you. If you've never done an opt out, I recommend you try it. For me its like the first class version of a TSA line. Plus, if enough people opt out, they will go back to metal detectors. Right now in most every airport when lines get longer, metal detectors open up and scanners shut down because they are faster.

2012-12-26 11:17:53 AM
Well I'm astounded. Up till now I was certain those tens of billions were spent to keep us safe. This is astonishing.

They are low paying jobs (pay ranges from $25,000 to $38,000 or $29,000 to $44,000) and the educational requirement is a high school diploma OR 1 year of experience at a similar job.

I've read the only requirements are a high-school diploma or GED, and an 80-hour training course. And they make between $25,000-$40,000 a year. So basically, it's one level up from what a monkey could do.

Because perhaps (and likely) they have not/will not, stop at "sees my beer gut" and might decide a nice long look at your wife's/young daughters parts are just what they were waiting for?
Now how do you feel about that?
How about someone who is TS/TG or some other identifying person?
Maybe they will have a nice long look at that as well.
Maybe some "take-home" pics via a USB drive or clicky-clicky with a camera.

This. Tsa is a waste, but just look at the pic in tfa. You could get a better idea of my nude body through my clothes using just your imagination.

As for folks joking and goofing off a bit on the job? Fine by me. Very few jobs should be taken so seriously that you can't clown around a little.

People want cops to lighten up and not take their job seriously whenever a cop is even slightly too serious, but then biatch about lack of professionalism every second they aren't being perfect.

Also, if you are making ten an hour that sucks. I feel for you.

BUT you should know you are not the metric by which all jobs, or any jobs, should be measured.

I don't expect perfect professionalism and dedication from a 15 dollar an hour job. Just because you ten an hour gig blows goats doesn't mean we should punish everyone earning more.

2012-12-26 11:39:15 AM
I'm a frequent flyer and I have never been through a scanner. Opt out every time. I've heard the Morlocks in the scanner viewing room sometimes use their cell phone cams to take pics of the screen when someone particularly *juicey* shows up...

At which point they will be committing several felonies, and probably doing it with watermarked and traceable cam images.  Certainly identifyable by the type of camera and various pallettes that only a TSA camera would be using.

So to recap, they will trade a felony so they can have a usb drive full of anonymous, monochrome beer guts and saggy boobs, and the occasional pedo pic.

I agree that some TSA might be dumb enough to do it, but I don't really see this as a big likely crime wave waiting to happen.

The asshats at Apple or Best Buy already saw your wife naked, leeched every pic on your phone, know your contacts going back 4 years, and have your credit card number.

Why is TSA a big deal, again?

2012-12-26 11:40:37 AM
What gets me is at work, we are occasionally exposed to NORM (naturally occurring radioactive material) and are required to wear badges when the possibility exists. Also, the company is required to allow us access to any and all records of exposure, measuring and testing etc. but somehow, these radiation machines are "totally safe" and we aren't allowed to see the results of exposure.

Questions: are we allowed to wear an exposure badge? Is there a law against it? If it is forbidden, why?

I'm sorry you consider $30,000 a year to be a 'high paying' job.

I'm also sorry you can't read: https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/334376200
"Have a high school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) credential OR at least one year of full-time work experience in the security industry, aviation screening, or as an X-ray technician"

But I'm really sorry you are willing to give your (and my) Rights away simply to get to your plane faster.

Oh, big whoop. Weirdos might be laughing at or getting off on blurry, unidentifiable, vaguely-human looking images that somehow distantly relate to you. This is and always has been a non-story.

Unless you are a double amputee with a couple of congenital deformities, there is zero chance you could correctly identify your own security scan image from a few dozen randomly chosen ones, let alone be recognized by somebody else from one.

Get over yourselves, America and the rest of the western world. Fact is, you're mostly ugly and nobody is spanking it over you -- and you almost certainly deserve to be laughed at now and then.
