OK, that was funny, though I felt bad for that old lady and her daikon.

OK - they are referring to this being a large cockroach (go-kiburri) trap. Wacky Japanese indeed.

Jesus, how old is this video?

It's all cooking shows now.

I just feel bad for them. I've never liked shows were people hurting themselves is supposed to be funny. Kick in the balls, falling down, smacked in head ... or like on here with ruining somebody's food or papers ... Still love Japan though. Yay, Japan.

Okay, I do like well done pranks, but how do you fall for this one. It couldn't have been more obvious. If they made it look like normal walking path, then I could see falling for it. This look like actors were involved.

That, and every scene just happened to have only a couple people trying to walk on the path at any given time. Plus the two kids on the tricycle by themselves. And the "businessman" with his "important papers". Etc...

The giveaway was the beginning where the host peeled a tile away from his face.  If it was all that sticky, it would've taken a few of his eyelashes or eyebrows hairs with it.  Most of the victims stumbled, then took one or two normal steps before they remembered their feet were supposed to be glued down.

I think it was a sonic transducer. Some kind of audio-vibratory, physiomolecular transport device.

Not to mention Japan's insane privacy laws. There's a lot of problems ($$$) that you can get into for filming someone without their consent and using it on TV or in a movie.

That's why when they film shows they do it late night, early morning, or mid workday; and they block off the section they're filming in or at least have a cordon of police and staff to keep people out of the shot.

My friend's an extra and when she shoots she has to show up at the weirdest hours.

And also if it really was as sticky as they are making it look, this would be an easy way to have somebody tear up their knees.

The lady with the vegetables. She does a very bad mime job of 'trying' to pick up the vegetable that fell from her basket. That thing doesn't even budge. Some of the vegetable would peel away and stay on the sticky pad but the bulk of it would lift. She made it look instead like the thing weighed 3,000 lb (or stones... or moon rocks... whatever jib-jab unit of measure they use in that silly country).

Squid. The unit of measurement is squid.

Ya, real funny, knock someone down, where they get hurt. Hysterical.

Another big giveaway is that there were already tricycle tracks on the paper when the kids went through. I guess the kids didn't look convincing or funny enough on the first take.

Yeah the lady with the daikon seemed to be pushing down on it rather than picking it up. And the stickiness started and one point for some and a completely different part for others.
