Read any of the many reports that her former staff have been interviewed for. It's not an anti-gay thing, it's an anti-Rosie thing.

Honestly, I don't get the impression that it's either because she's gay or because she's (allegedly) mean. I just assume the backlash is because she's heavy, and very loud and opinionated. It's the same reason Roseanne gets crap.

I think that's part of it. The timing for this is wrong, but her attack on Tom Selleck stands out as something that raises the ire of people.
