Tom Ridge is named as an accomplice in the story about a swindle. I'm not surprised that the guy who gave us the TSA is corrupt.

If only the source was in large letters on the Fark mobile site instead of slightly less than microscopic grey on white...

Well, we already knew that Vancouver is a hive of scum, villainy, petty tax evaders.

...Crime rates are also very low...

Stealing millions of $$ is not crime?

Yeah, Vancouver actually has two "west Vancouvers". Technically three.

There is the city of Vancouver, and its western side is called west Vancouver, where Kitsilano and Arbutus and Kerrisdale and UBC all are.

And then there is the municipality of West Vancouver which is actually to the north of Vancouver but its called West Vancouver to distinguish it from North Vancouver which is to the east of West Vancouver and Vancouver and not to be confused with the West End which is the western part of downtown Vancouver which is north of Vancouver but south of West Vancouver and North Vancouver.

Understand? ...good.

Although, technically, despite the West Side and the West End, there's only one West Vancouver that's called West Vancouver (and that has its own municipal government). We have two North Vancouver's though: The City of North Vancouver and The District of North Vancouver (they are both east of West Vancouver but north of the City of Vancouver).

West Van is known to have one of the most affluent postal codes in all of Canada (in the British Properties). It's only a fifteen minute drive from Hastings and Main in the City of Vancouver, which is known to be the poorest postal code in all of Canada.

When I was going up, a Principal from West Van High was quoted as saying that his students perform better because of the strong gene pool in West Vancouver. I was from the neighbouring municipality of North Vancouver. We didn't like them very much.

Heh, I lived in West Vancouver for most of my life and went to West Vancouver Secondary and that doesn't surprise me at all. No one likes people from West Vancouver, including a good number of people from West Vancouver, there's just way too much money in that town.

Even the title of the newspaper, "The Vancouver Sun" is ironic and false (much like much of the its real-estate cheerleading articles).

"Sun" in Vancouver is a rare thing for much of the year. A more appropriate title would be "The Vancouver Rain".

Yeah my home town.

I grew up west van poor.

My parents bought a place on 31st and Marine in 1971 for 27K. Had mortgages all thier life.

It was wierd growing up with all those rich kids. The west van poors tended to stick together. I hung out with the bangers and the kids from SWAP.

But any place with a lot of money gets a lot of corruption. I remeber when the russian mob first came to the city. Some guy in caufield was found in his closet choked to death with his own wiener.

How'd the cops figure out it wasn't just an accidental case of autoerotic asphyxiation?
