That was dumb as fark, i liked Oregon though.. It's a past time of some to go stack rocks on the beach/in forests, i know it might sounds lame, but still.. Uh... Not the ghosts of slaves buried alive.

Much like commas, no?

In July 2008, two men on a hunting trip in northern Georgia encountered a lizard-like creature about 100 yards ahead of them. Both men confirmed the beast looked exactly like a Jurassic Park raptor -- five feet tall, long tail, huge claws on both feet and smaller claws on its short, stubby arms. The hunters said the creature stopped for a moment, sniffed the air, and then disappeared back into the bushes.

So two Georgian men on a hunting trip say they saw something out of a movie? Pretty sure alcohol was involved. Lots of it.

I didnt notice my phone scrolling up when I tilted it.

Michigan's is everything I imagined it to be.

gawd. We'll never be able to live it down. Other states get the Greys with their anal probes. We get Carrot Top.

We Dutch have a saying: "You never know how a cow catches a hare." It was in the newspapers and everything. At least that is somewhat believable.

/The most credible explanation entails a cow standing behind a tree and mimicking the sound of a carrot
//Well, it was in the newspapers in ages past and it didn't require a lot to be newsworthy back then

RexTalionis: For a state with stuff like the Jersey Devil and all sorts of bizarre phenomenon, the best this slideshow could do is that someone hung some shirts in trees?

CSB
The really sad part is that I'm pretty sure I know the guy who did this shirt thing; in the 90's around Princeton and Lawrence my art teacher in HS was making collages out of clothes nailed to plywood and numbering them before nailing them up high on utility poles or trees, even got a quick blurb in Weird NJ. This sounds just like his MO of doing confusing things with clothing and just leaving it out in strange places

And RI gets a couple of kids playing hooky who say they saw a werewolf? Seriously, there really are no "deep woods" around here, either.

/damned state gave us Lovecraft, and the creepiest thing is a spurious report from some dumb kids? *sigh*

Dingleberry Dickwad: Weird, I was born and raised in Wisconsin and I never heard of UFO's and alien abductions at Bong Park.

Sounds like a lot of weird stuff would've been seen at Bong Park.

Wasn't Louisiana's monster thing proven fake years ago? It's the poster child for fake internet pictures of ghosts.

2012-12-24 09:37:31 PM
Most of that shiat sounds fake...a few are intriguing...but the "humanoid" pic of the Louisiana photographer is downright creepy.

Oh and uh...1 person saying they saw something, doesn't make it phenomena...it makes it hearsay from an attention whore. That covers about half of em.

ftfa:

"California -- El Diablo's Nuclear Jellyfish
In April of 2012, an unprecedented invasion of jellyfish-like sea creatures forced a nuclear reactor on the California coast to shut down. A mysterious swarm of the gelatinous organisms, called salp, had so completely clogged screens used to filter the plant's cooling seawater, the utility company had to turn off its so-called El Diablo reactor. Salps are usually found farther out to sea, so why the creatures chose to attack the plant's filtration system en masse remains unknown."

really? spontaneous sea-snot is the best they've got?

those sheltered saps have obviously never been to the bay area...

I get redistricting farking with the house. but governor?
I guess that means that the other party couldn't field an honest man.
It would be nice if at least one of the parties could groom people for higher office.

I'm pretty sure that at least a majority of those 'phenomena' have been explained. Mostly as hoaxes or drunk rednecks.

/The thing from Louisiana, creepy but so very fake.

Oh, and as for my home state...really? THAT'S the best they've got? For crying out loud, how do you write something about 'Weird shiat in Connecticut' and not find Dudleytown?

I mean, come on, if you MUST go on about fake creepy things to scare the gullible, at least do your research.

Delaware - UFOs hang out at the race track. IMAGINE THAT. The bigger mystery is why aliens like to be seen by rednecks so much.

/not really

It's really bad to have an alphabetized slide if your state is Washington...ya gotta click thru almost all of it to see what lame shiat they came up with.

With a 'W' last name, I'm really sensitive to always being the last one in line. I usually don't line up at all. thanks for the deslide, Peter von Nostrand:

It really is funny how often these stories are from places frequented by drunk rednecks.

Also funny is how, now that so many people are carrying smartphones with decent cameras, that nobody can get a shot of these 'phenomena' that isn't blurred to the point of uselessness.

DerekSD: "California -- El Diablo's Nuclear Jellyfish

Though salps look a bit like jellyfish, they are actually more closely related to organisms that have backbones.
So not republicans or democrats??

Salps passively feed off tiny organic particles in the water and can reproduce sexually or asexually.
Like your mom.

The more you know.

They play a song about the Dogman on the radio around Halloween. I didn't know it was based on a "real" thing.

The Paulding Light is more documented and researched yet remains a mystery. There are plenty of theories, but unless you've seen the lights you know those theories don't hold up too well. I didn't think I'd actually see it, but there it was.

Colorado seems to have it all what with UFOs, ghosts, strange weather, bigfoot, prarie dragons that invade your home, and dracula/mothman hybrid flying people types.

/And by "all" I mean a higher concentration of delusional people, apparently.
