So by applying super complex math we can make super minute predictions about particles which may not even exist.

This is where mathematical science gets you. We need a quantum Einstein to come through and break it down into English, as well as make it pretty.

Having 500 states of matter is a clusterfark of epic proportions and cannot be the best way to describe the situation.
