I can accept that the ubiquity of "Gangnam" has probably grown tiresome, but this is ridiculous. It was all in good fun, no babies were harmed and the staff loved it. Sheesh.

Dear Humanize Birth and others like you,

Your being offended does not give you the right to silence those who offend you. Saying that you are offended is fine. Demanding the video's removal and an apology is not.

Gordon Bennett

Kalina Christoff, founder of Humanize Birth, an organization that advocates for "an increase in women having positive, empowered births,"

Their biggest challenge is cleaning all the sand out of vaginas, to make the birthing process as comfortable as possible.

The elevator scene made me laugh.

Dear Humanize Birth people,

This is a fun insider video for people who work in this field. it has nothing to do with you so put a sock in it already.

Dr. Zom

Humanize Birth needs to take a chill and lighten the fark up.

Nurses work their asses off and deal with stuff that would have anyone else yakking within a second. Let think blow off some steam and have some fun they deserve it

Dear People who continue the meme of writing letters to other people who will probably never see them much less read them;

People who can't take a joke need to be humiliated in every way possible at every opportunity.

Carry on,

Great Glavin's Ghost.

I don't know why people keep giving in to these kinds of people.  You could come up with the least offensive thing possible and someone somewhere will get offended because it's not offensive enough.

You cant please everyone, quit placating these idiots.

Seems like anybody who uses the word "empowered" with much regularity falls into that category.

But then again, I've yet to see an advocacy group of any kind (for any thing) that doesn't get offended at the drop of a hat... provided it's the right hat.

I'm offended by women being empowered. I'm going to have to demand that this group stop.

Wow, someone buy Kalina Christoff a sparkly new douche bottle to clean the sand out of her cooter! Mothers may deliver their own babies, but you can bet your bippy they worship the ground a nurse/doctor walks on when they're carrying an epidural to them! :)

The real tragedy here is that the video that everyone is getting offended over isn't even that funny. There seems to have been a trend in the last couple years where med students and residents make parodies of internet viral videos and then show them off to visiting students at interviews. The saddest part is when they gush over how "oh-so-hilarious" they are when most of them are cringe-worthy unfunny.

This one was the only that I've ever chuckled over and it's mostly just due to the second-to-last line.

Sure they do. That's why they're in the hospital. How come this organization doesn't recommend that women give birth at home, and just come in if they have problems? That would be really empowering.

Once you think about it, it makes perfect sense that the founder of Humanize Birth is a c*nt.

Sounds like those biatches at Humanize Birth need a good solid farking to sort them out. An empowered farking even. Maybe even a Mike Tyson womb shifter.

That's because sane people know that "giving birth" is what the mother does and "delivering the baby" is what people call the doctor's role in the process.

Ironic that more people don't include this into political leanings instead of feigning faux-butthurt as a proxy for someone else...who more than likely doesn't give a shiat.

Humanize Birth website

It seems to be a group of like 5 people who all have some sort of axe to grind with the way their baby was delivered (blah blah doctors are bad blah blah). Their big story on the main page is about how 12 people showed up to protest the prosecution of someone for acting as a midwife without a licence in BC (midwifery is a regulated practice - basically if you do anything below the waist or give medical advice on birthing, you are a midwife and have to be licensed).

The stupid coont in the article definitely needs a sense of humour.

In response, the hospital pulled the video from YouTube, but Christoff says that's not enough - she's demanding an apology

Wow, fark you you self-important coont. Seriously no one owes you an apology, and you can't accept an apology on behalf of everyone anyway.

an organization that advocates for "an increase in women having positive, empowered births,"

What exactly makes a birth positive or negative? In what way can a birth be empowered?

The word empowered just annoys the crap out of me. People who talk about wanting to be empowered... You sound like farking retards. It makes me instantly think less of you.

2012-12-24 08:37:37 AM
I may sympathize to a certain extent with what Humanize Birth is trying to do. Going into the hospital to give birth can be uncomfortably like handing your body over to the baby factory, and the medical profession as a whole does little to educate women about their own ability to have babies. When I took my hospital's birthing class, it was less a class on giving birth than a class on laying back and accepting the high possibility of C-section after substantial medical intervention. For most women, birth doesn't have to be that way and it's more a profit/convenience thing for the hospital than care for the mother and child.

That said, this is possibly the stupidest way Humanize Birth could've chosen to try and pursue their agenda. Taking a harmless video not intended to be at all educational and throwing a hissy fit about it is completely useless and makes them look like a bunch of humorless people with a frivolous ax to grind. That's not the way to get your point across. Hell, Gangnam Style is so played out, the video would be gone in weeks anyway.
