Destiny. I think he thought of himself as a reluctant hero.

Based on his campaign, I'd say thats obvious.

Is that what it was? I thought he was trying to impress Daddy. He never did seem to achieve that.

I mean in reference that Republicans don't actually lose elections. What with ACORN and the willful deceit of the MSM.

Nope. Mitt plain gave it away. For the better of the country. The Obama Camelot as he stumbles and falls. And, the party with perspective on history will clean up the mess again.

Every one of those candidates was unelectable from the getgo. I'm starting to think that Republicans are holding electable candidates back until the economy turns around, so they can blame the hard times on Democrats next few cycles.

In August of 2011 I told someone in Hanoi that Obama had an 85% chance of re-election for this very foreseeable reason.

sometimes I wonder if Romney would have been able to handle being second guessed by Congress, the courts, various members of the press...from what we saw of the guy, he seemed to take an extreme dislike of someone questioning his authority or second guessing his decisions.

I'm glad we'll never get a chance to see him throw a presidential temper tantrum.  he would have been a horrible president.

In November 2011, the College Republicans came across the street from Occupy Berkeley to attempt to "taunt" us. I remember shouting back to them
"With who? Mitt Romney? Hahaha
Rick Santorum? LOLOLOLOL
RON PAUL???
Michelle from helle???
And so on down the pathetic list when they said they were , taking their country back,.

Sure he didn't, you lying sack of crap.  He only spent the last 10 years of his life desperately trying to buy his way into the White House, but I mean, he didn't really want it or anything.

What an odious family.

I realize a little more each day that we really, really avoided a disaster by not electing Mittens president.  I think he would have been one of the worst Presidents ever.

It's the disconnect of the rich and privileged from reality of life.

FDR acknowledged that his polio shaped his views on how unfair life coud be (also the Roosevelt family was raised in the belief that wealth implied responsibility to society and the poor) JFK, George H. Bush had fought in WWII- knowing how bad war could be- that learned that wealth couldn't spare them from harm.

Mitt, nor Tagg I believe, have any of that sorrow building background. And they were not taught it.

I seem to recall that the worst hardship that his campaign came up with, was that Mitt and Ann wanted nicer things while they were in college. While his father paid their expenses and neither of them were working part-time jobs.

They only had 5 servants!

Their "apartment" was only a condo with 2000 sq ft!

The opportunities to have large amounts of other folks' cash in his hands to ladle out to buddies who will be paying back for years to come...

I'd guess that his frequent positional adjustments and verbal quibbles were an accurate reflection of the conflict withing his heart. Wanting to do the right thing for the country but being unable to reconcile that need with his desire to remain a humble family man.

*sigh*

And as long as everyone else is posting LFM, here's my 'favorite'.

How do we get such shiatty politicians running for the Presidency and Office #2?

George W. Bush (too dumb)
John Kerry (too surly and unprincipled)
Al Gore (too damned...uncharismatic)
Mitt Romney (too unprincipled and incompetent)
Sarah Palin (too damned dumb)
John Edwards (corrupt!)

Each might have a strength, but they all fail. We need more Obamas, Reagans and Clintons.
