The Louis C. K. "Lincoln" segment was easily the funniest thing this season precisely because it was Louis C. K. humour rather than hackneyed SNL writing.

This season has been awful by even SNL standards. Way too many sketches that have one joke/gag which is repeated over and over again for 4 minutes.

If they didn't have the election to spoof they would have really been screwed.

That's been SNL's bread and butter for decades, though - even back to the hallowed 'first cast' in 75

Sorry, not only did they pick the wrong sketch, but they simply should have populated the list from Maya Rudolph's episode (Bronx Beat is only moderately funny).

The Beyonce Meets Bon Iver sketch was hands down the best of the season. And the Maya Angelou prank show runs a close second.

Honorable mention should have gone to the fake Chantix ad (possible side effects: jazz hands; Robert DeNiro face...)

All I see on there is "Bridesmaids" and a couple of voice-acting gigs (which don't really count; even complete disaster wash-ups like Andy Dick can still get voice-acting work).

So, looks like a pretty typical post-SNL actor's list.

It's funnier without Wiig. Seemed like they were using her as a crutch way too much, like if they didn't have ideas for that week's show they just threw yet another "Kristen Wiig does a weird and annoying character" thing in there, often one that had already been beaten into the ground. Sometimes multiple ones of those in a show. This season has seen significantly more new ideas. They don't always work, but I'd much rather see them try than "oh, let's just do another Gilly sketch."

Thank god, no Californians or Stefon.

I'm glad the also-rans included Last Call at Donnelly's, which just turned weirder and weirder and more enjoyable. And man...that Bruno Mars mouse video is just wonderful.

I agree. I watched that last night, having not seen it live the week previous. I could see the classic in the making.

(I really hate working Saturday nights. Never seen any of the sketches in the list. Plllttt!)

Glad to see Puppet Class on the list.

I also would've added the Grady Wilson videos of sex moves.

The first Californians sketch is really great. The rest, not so much.
The Hader puppet sketch is the stuff of legends.

They definitely get the obsession with getting around traffic right. First time I saw the sketch was at work, then I go into the break room and they're doing the same thing: "If you're carpooling take the 405 instead of the 5 north, then you can transition to the 55 and then back on the 5 and you'll skip a lot of it".

I'm curious if they go with somebody entirely new, or if they bring Darrell Hammond in to mimic him again.

They re-made The Secret Life of Walter Mitty? With Kristen Wiig? What in the actual fark?

......maybe the original will get put on DVD. That movie is a classic.

I don't know which episode it was, but my favorite recent SNL sketch was the one in which iPhone users were complaining about the new iPhone and were confronted by Chinese workers who make them.

It's funny how half of the films you listed in that sentence to "prove me wrong" were box office flops. And Kristen Wiig was in "Knocked Up?" I haven't seen it in awhile but how long was her part, like 2 seconds?

For the record, I actually *like* Kristen Wiig and think she's hilarious. I just find your attempts to play her up as some kind of huge A-list actress who stars in tons of blockbuster hits a bit amusing. Are you her agent or something?

Box office flops don't meant crappy movies, but you knew that. So let's rely on a more reliable source of quality judgment - critical reviews.

The original poster said something about making crappy movies.

I apologize for addressing that with a list that shows her making good movies as well as bad movies. It could hardly be conclusively labeled "a crappy body of work".

Please proceed, governor.

thornhill: The Louis C. K. "Lincoln" segment was easily the funniest thing this season precisely because it was Louis C. K. humour rather than hackneyed SNL writing.

Louis was on Opie and Anthony and said Seth Meyers wrote the whole Lincoln sketch.. which was surprising for two reasons:
1) It totally felt like a Louis creation
2) If Seth Meyers can write that well, why does SNL suck so badly most of the time?

For me, being from California makes "The Californians" even better. Listening to each one of them try and do the weird-ass valley-ish accent is hilarious.

"Almost Pizza" is the type of thing SNL does best. Also, I'm a big fan of anything where the cast starts laughing. Stefon would be a regular example.

I don't get this. Is it spoofing a show, or is it an original thing? Living far from California, I have zero interest of point of reference for whatever this is supposed to be.
