We were at a party earlier this year, and the host served Brussels Sprouts that had been oven-roasted after being drizzled in bacon grease, salt, pepper, and fresh garlic. the bottoms were sliced flat so they stood upright.

The outside layers were crispy like parchment paper, and the insides had caramelized and were quite sweet and tender.

Definitely worth a try!

While I don't eat anything close to 10,000 a year, Brussels sprouts ARE my favorite vegetable. My family won't touch them so I generally get to make them any way I like and eat all of them. I'll usually have some as part of my birthday meal request as well as a few other times a year. I'll gladly eat them steamed with butter and salt or pan fried with bacon and onion, or oven roasted with just some salt. Hell, I could make a meal of just Brussels sprouts.

Many moons ago, I worked at in the Stop & Shop frozen foods section. There was a lady who had us order and set aside a case, CASE(!), of frozen brussel sprouts for her every week. Sure enough, she came in every week and bought them. Her house must have smelled like propane & hot summer swamp.

I like other vegetables, but I have yet to find a brussels sprouts recipe that I actually like.

/guess the difference between those people and myself is I'm at least willing to try them once in a while
