I like The Clash and recognize their importance but from a music perspective, I enjoy his later work with The Mescaleros more.

And these lines from "Johnny Appleseed" are as relevant as ever, if not more so:

If you're after getting the honey
Then you don't go killing all the bees

For serious?

From Wiki:

Joe Strummer, was a British musician who was the co-founder, lyricist, rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist of the British punk rock band The Clash. His musical experience included his membership of The 101ers, Latino Rockabilly War, The Mescaleros and The Pogues, in addition to his own solo music career. Strummer's work as a musician allowed him to explore other interests, which included acting, creating film scores for television and movies, songwriting, radio broadcasting, and a position as a radio host. Strummer is one of the iconic figures of the British punk movement.

I love that 21 guns song he does and American Idiot too.

One thing that fascinates me about Joe Strummer is that he was left-handed, but played guitar right-handed. He wanted to make his body do something that his brain told him not to do. He was really an interesting guy.

Not sure why Joan Jett does the same thing.

Cut The Crap is just Joe and a bunch of stand ins. Its not a real Clash album. In fact, it never happened.

Yeah, but I like all the Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros albums, though. Combat Rock was the last strong album, and I remember being disgusted the first time I heard Cut The Crap.

Joe Strummer was talented.
The Clash was a good band.

He's legend in the same way that Aerosmith is a legend. Decent, but highly over rated.

Strummerville is a very cool foundation for musicians. Joe would have been proud.

/my first tattoo was a Clash tattoo

You might be overthinking this. MUCH easier to find a teacher, and read chord charts playing the same way the vast majority of the guitar players in the world play.

/Plays right

I'm left-handed and play guitar right-handed because I play guitar right-handed. It wouldn't be possible to play left-handed. I shoot pool left, throw a ball right ... I guess I'm "cross-handed." Maybe he was, too.

That would be an appropriate analogy only if almost all of the modern coffee was following in the footsteps of Folgers instant coffee.

Yep, I could see that.  Plus, playing guitar isn't really a "dominant hand" issue.  You have to use both hands.

huge clash fan. huge. this day always kinda sucks.

love teh clash, loved joe's ethic, still dig them. regret passing on a mescaleros show about 1-2 years before he died.

RIP Joe. We need you now more than ever.
