Rest in Peace, Lee.

I've always wondered if that song would be nearly as well known had Ingle not been completely shiatfaced and was actually able to pronounce "In the Garden of Eden" properly when he recorded the vocals.

I always wanted to make a cover band that covered only this song and November Rain. You can stretch both songs out enough that it's one set and then come back and do it again.

Deep Purple's Jon Lord, Lee Dorman...our rock stars are starting to die of old age.

Right now, the music in the nursing home is big band and doo-wop.  Before you know it, nursing homes will be playing The Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin.

Indeed. Captain Beyond's debut is the very definition of a "lost classic".

I now has a big sad. Saw them in concert in Monterey back in the day (like 10 years after In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida was a big hit and only a couple of members of the original band). Still, what a show!

Kudos to subby on the headline. The only thing that would have been sadder was if it was the drummer (Ron Bushy).

I hate to break it to you but the Alzheimer's Center/Adult Daycare where my wife works already has "Beatles Afternoons" . They also work in a Motown and 60's Pop theme every now and then.

Just wait until the A-KISSted Living places open up.

Yeah, they're quite underrated.  Too bad they're basically just known for in-a-gadd-da-vida, which I find to be a pretty cheesy song.

Their bluesier stuff was awesome.

Hmmmm. It was pretty good, but I nominate the live version of Cream's "Toad" from "Wheels of Fire" album as the mother of all drum solos.

well, upon searching youtube, I couldn't find that version of Toad,
but I found a version from their farewell concert!!
