Why so worked up over satire, subby? Isn't that what fuels Fark?

It's a catchy tune from an artist who has a sense of humor and clearly doesn't take himself very seriously. We could do a whole hell of a lot worse.

And yet, I have made it a point not to watch it.  So far I've avoided it AND Friday.  Would have avoided "Call Me Maybe" if it weren't for the overhead speakers at 7-11.

I managed to avoid both the Macarena and Call Me Maybe, but I couldn't avoid Friday, and have totally avoided Gangnam Style, so I have at least 3/4ths of a brain cell left.

I think it's hilarious that actually happened.  That it hit a billion today that is, not that Nostradamus said that.

Back in Sept. 11 of this year as this song started to take off, I posted this as a joke.

Atomic Spunk: This guy, Psy? He's the real deal. The moves, the hair, the attitude - he has it all. No K-pop or J-pop stars have ever made it big in the US (please don't mention Pink Lady) but he'll be the first. He's insanely charismatic. Much like Reverend Sun Myung Moon, who became famous for holding mass arranged wedding ceremonies for his for followers.

At the time I posted this, I thought that this whole fad would be dead and forgotten by the end of September. I don't know if having one colossal hit here would mean he's "made it big in the US", but if not, he may very well be on his way.

Too bad I don't have a basement where I live, or I would be hiding there, and it is possible to actually NOT see and/or hear Gangnam Style if one wishes to.

The difference, is that Gangnam Style is awesome. It is okay to enjoy something so many others do. Friday, Call me maybe and the Macarena I never liked personally, but Gangnam Style is worth it. It's only a few minutes, but I guarantee you'll watch the video again because you enjoyed it.

That one is pretty good, the video is fun.

To all the haters of anything "pop".... sometimes you just want a song with a beat, and a funny video.  One of my fav's from the 80s is "Party Train" by the Gap Band.  Is it even one of the 100 greatest "songs" of the 80s?  No, but, it is just such an over the top "80s" video, sometimes cheese is great.

There's a big difference between not liking something and bragging about how you're purposefully avoiding things just because they're popular.

Things being popular, and in certain styles of popular especially, are usually great markers for whether they are worth checking out.  Massive waves of its everywhere at once, and its usually more fun to ignore it and see if it ever makes it to me, or who I know who is super enthused about it, usually thats more interesting than the thing itself, which is usually just some internet crap.

Sorry, you've seen one dancing baby you've seen them all.

Speaking of bizarre, that first question is all sorts of bizarre. You sound like a person who likes everything and has never experienced the sensation of not liking something. If you don't understand what I'm talking about with the bragging read this comment from earlier in the thread..

Very different from saying something like "I don't enjoy rap, I only enjoy real singing." or "the drum beat is too simple and repetitive"
