Kids that young ask for guns?

2012-12-21 11:08:38 AM
"You might get a gun from your father or your mother or grandfather, but you won't get one from me," he tells kids who request weapons, either real or make-believe, at the Fairfax County nursery. "Guns were put on this earth to take the life of a bird, an animal or a person. Guns were designed to make people cry, to make people die. Now, take a candy and a holy card."

Wow...what a douche.

That's pretty reasonable for kids.  Guns should be for adults.  Making them "cool" for kids just feeds the culture of violence that causes these shootings.

So it's really not about individualism and the 2nd Amendment.  It's about your surrogate penis.

I figured the truth would rise to the surface.  Just not in the boobies.

Oh, and I think Santa's a douche, too.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt a cold chill at that sentence.  I'd rather give the kids the damn guns.

I'm a big gun guy and I don't necessarily think Santa should be dishing out this kind of moral advice, but... I think tempering a childs lust for a fire arm is a good thing.  Guns will always be there - hopefully their immaturity will not be.

Good for him.

Despite my joke above, a Santa should be avoiding moral subjects with kids to the absolute extent possible. Those of you thinking what this Santa did was great should stop and think how you would react if the Santa was asking every kid if they were sure they didn't want a gun, because guns are cool and hunting is a great tradition and gun ownership will help teach them how to defend their families one day. Yeah, I thought so.

So it's ok for Santa to tell kids that guns are bad, but it's not ok for teachers and clergy to tell kids that sex is bad?

I'm guessing he doesn't have one at all, which is why he thinks sex is bad.

But Santa remembers one child who asked for an entire arsenal: an assault rifle, a shotgun and two handguns. And he asks me not to print the awful details of one encounter that really rattled him. But let's just say that some parents don't agree with his quiet speech about weapons.

Yeah, I just bet there were.

Ya pretty much. People cheer this kind of thing only when the person doing it has a political stance they agree with. Really not the kind of thing you want someone to be doing there.

I have one of those guys in my desk right now. I rarely get the opportunity to use it, though.

As long as he's handing out cards, may as well really freak the kid out.

I'm really surprised he hasn't gotten into a fist fight with a father.  We're due one of those, and there's still time.

When you decide to go play Santa, then you can decide how to respond to that request.

Until then, STFU.

Not necessarily true. I certainly cringe when I see somebody on my side "cross the line."

But for most people, yeah, "extremism in the defense of liberty" and so on.

The hero tag is humorous, even more humorous is this pathetic lardass having to play "santa" for a living.

Violence is a part of nature. I don't want to live in San Angeles "I want to run through the streets rubbing green jello all over my body reading playboy magazine."

This gun thing is getting on my nerves.....Ban Guns! derp derp.....guns are inanimate objects....it requires a (crazy) person to use them to kill someone.....at this point, if you're going to ban guns, ban glass bottles, scissors, pipes, 2x4's, artificial sweetener, cars, gospel music.....the list could go on and on.

Bottom line: If you're crazy enough, you can find a way to inflict violence on something with ANYTHING.

I don't mind that he said that guns should be given by parents or grandparents, but saying that guns are for making people cry and die is a rather simplistic emotional appeal. They CAN be used for that, and sometimes are, but it's all in the intentions (or irresponsible negligence) of the user.

HOHOHOHO! A racing car set! Listen, those are assembled in Taiwain by kids like you. And these Coleman pigs, they sell them for triple the cost. Don't you see, kid? You're being bamboozled. These capitalist fatcats are inflaming the profit margin and reducing your total number of toys.
