Worlds longest game of hide and go seek?

Brilliant.

"Where did you last see your brother?"
"Over there."
"Great.  We'll be sure to look everywhere that isn't over there.  Thank you for your assistance."

Wade Riley Graupe!

Wade Riley Graupe!

Wade Riley Graupe!
Maybe it is just morning, but that article didn't do much in the way of keeping the characters straight. For awhile I thought the storage rooms with Graupe's body was Graupe's storage room, not, presumably, Riley's.

Wow. That's incompetence there. "Lets see. He was last seen at the home of a former murderer who owed him money. This sounds like a dead end. Lets just give it a once over and get out of here."

*facepalm gif*

Ugh..... What kind of incompetence is this? Even... You know what? I am letting this go, just, wow.

Sort of reminds me of this.....

Late at night, a drunk was on his knees beneath a street-light, evidently looking for something.
A passer-by, being a good Samaritan, offered to help. "What is it you have lost? " he asked.
"My watch, " replied the drunk. "It fell off when I tripped over the pavement."
The passer-by joined in the search but after a quarter of an hour, there was still no sign of the watch.
"Where exactly did you trip? " asked the passer-by.
"About half a block up the street, " replied the drunk.
"Then why are you looking for your watch here if you lost it half a block up the street? "
The drunk said: "Because the light's a lot better here. "

2012-12-21 02:21:04 PM
fta: "They asked me if I smelled any odors. I have been right over there behind the house talking to them. I wouldn't suspect nothing."
It really bothers me when people speak this way. I understand it, it just doesn't sound right to me.

I'm all for getting your news from alternative sources, but that article made me feel stabby. I know j-school standards have fallen quite a bit since I was there, but what about basic grammar?

That is only true if you stop looking once you've found it.

Many of the people at WAVE 3 are pretty good, but occasionally they drop some once-a-year stinkers on there. I used to submit them every now and then, but they'd get fixed before mods ever looked at 'em. It's also worth noting that the comments on Wave 3 are usually grade A crazy.

If you want to see some good J-School stuff, check the writer of the article's bio, for at least a few fun spelling mistakes, including some of the Farker Pet Peeves :)

Searching for "Graupe" on the same site gets you followup stories including the suspect being arrested for murder, and details from a witness account.

Oh my god yes.
"That is one of the hardest things," said Pasley when asked how hard it is to know his brother had been in the very spot police searched three years ago. "Besides the fact that he was murdered, but him to be laying for three years. "
It's like reading some kind of Mobius strip story.

I laughed out loud. I was trying to think of a way to describe the writing. You nailed it.
