Need the slo-mo and Kevin Costner to analyze this

Up and to the right.
Up and to the right

Steve decided to wear a union jacket at 5:52?

or is that the joke?

In a situation of extremely high tension, two or three people tossed a couple of punches.

THIS CLEARLY HAS NATIONAL POLICY IMPLICATIONS

John Glenn punched a dude once. Therefore all Democrats are violent Senators.

Such a serious crime that no one has been charged with anything.

That's a fallacious argument. Police and prosecutors' exercise of discretion is not proof that an act didn't occur or a crime wasn't committed. See, e.g., Nixon, Wall Street, etc.

Didn't Neil Armstrong do the same to a moon hoaxer? Or is that urban legend I just WISH were true?

Either way, sometimes in a heated moment, stupid people do stupid things. Hardly means anything regarding policy. That is, unless you're trying to pass off all union members as violent thugs. Then it means EVERYTHING.

You're right, of course.  But that's not the angle I was going for.  They have people they can charge, but won't do so if Crowder won't press charges.  That alone tells me he's only interested in pushing an agenda instead of pushing for justice.  With a liberal (haha) dose of Attention Whoring.

Not to be a twatwaffle but people cannot technically press charges. Ever. They can file a complaint by charges can only be filed by the authorities (often based on the complaint).

Meh, no surprise.

Peaceful Tea Party protests are awful, but violent actions by unions (tent, hot dog stand, reporter) are okay.

It would be, wouldn't it?  It's smart.  Kind of evokes the assassination of Julius Cesar. for those who paid attention in history class.

This is a non-story regardless.  A jerk taunting protesters ending with some sparring.  I've had bigger donnybrooks with my friends and we went out for drinks afterwards.

Don't know if the reporter punched the protester or not.
But the protester definitely got knocked down, and was responding to it by going after the reporter.

He did an interview with Canada's Sun News where he admitted to pushing down the protester, who then came back with a punch.

If it's from the Blaze, you pretty much know it's not going to be true.  Sometimes I think they fact check a story before they run it to be sure they never run a true story by accident.

Looked like it from the video.

Can't say I saw a punch (a "left hook").

2012-12-21 11:25:39 AM
Earth shattering video that we saw two weeks ago.

I kind of wished he punched the asshole, but the fact is the asshole was pushed by the guy with the black and grey hat to the left of the reporter at 5:44 (right side of the split screen) and mouthy mcMoustache got up swinging at the guy he had been stalking all afternoon.

2012-12-21 11:53:25 AM
What we're saying here is the difference between real men and those who wish they were... is that real men will punch you in the jaw.  Those who wish they were will take a gun and shoot you instead.

Do I have that about right?

So you followed up your first lie with a second lie.  Typical.

First you said he admitted to punching him (he did not)

Then you said he admitted to pushing down the protester (he did not, he said he pushed him.  Big difference)

Got any more lies today or are you at your quota?

2012-12-21 12:16:23 PM

halfof33: but the fact is

The fact is, what happened to cause the punch-swinging guy to fall to the ground was not clearly captured on video. His reaction was obviously to go after the reporter.
The guy with the hat (who had previously pushed someone else) was not in the frame. I suppose you could argue that the guy in the hat pushed the reporter into the punch-swinging guy, but there's no video evidence of that.

BTW this is an "issue" I give approximately zero farks about.

So he admitted that he committed battery against the guy first? Too bad the union guy wasn't armed. He could have stood his ground.

2012-12-21 12:20:19 PM
The Union "guy" needs to invoke the stand my ground defense.

He was either tripped or pushed, possibly by the guy in the hat (no evidence either way from the video).

But regardless of why he was on the ground, he stood his ground through excessive force against someone who had his hands up.

2012-12-21 12:20:30 PM
Since this is from "The Blaze" shouldn't we just assume that Steven Crowder doesn't exist?

Meh.  if you think a push is battery (an intentional unpermitted act causing harmful or offensive contact)  sure, go with that.

And if you think that the right response to a push is to take a couple of swings at a person with the amount of force that caused real harm, sure, go with that.
