I knew modern pop all sounded the same.

I made it to 45 seconds.

Then I used Hounds of Love as ear bleach.

Very YOLO

So guys... any good mashups this year? Titus Jones' last 'album' was pretty terrible.

Same here. It's always fun to listen to each year.

But wait, this is Fark. Alabama Shakes are probably too mainstream now.

Same. Ever since December hit, I've been looking forward to it.

My favorite is still from back in 2008. I throw that on ever so often in the car.

Rewatching this I just realized that Liam Lynch invented the hipster.

As technically proficient the editing skills are, I'm usually bummed by these mashups because it seemingly appears that all pop music can flow into one another. Makes me remember reading the difference between folk music and classical/art music is in folk or pop the intervals between notes are much smaller and easier for the common person to hit. I think this can probably translate to rhythm as well.

Yeah I came to link to this also. It's better done, has 10 times the hits, and I submitted it last week with a better headline.

This makes me realize that either
A - I am old
B - I am completely out of touch where pop-culture is concerned
C- Both A and B

/going back to Queen at Wembley Stadium now...

2009 still the best, last year is second, then this one.

opps, had a little sniffy between some angled brackets to emphasize the snark. Guess it didn't make it through. Wouldn't want you to think I'm really mad at you. What with you clearly being better than me and all!
Congrats on turning 40!!

Not a fan of pop music, but this was masterfully edited and I enjoyed it.

Just watched them all for the first time.. have to disagree with your rankings..

2008 and 2011 were the best. Really didn't like '09 and '10.. they were just irritating. 2012 had good varied rhythm.. nothing worse than a stale beat that just repeats over and over.

2012-12-22 01:08:43 AM
I swear these get crappier and lazier every year.

2012-12-22 01:52:36 AM
Gonna jump on the "2009 is the bestest evar" bandwagon. That mashup esploded my brain. This one... Pretty meh. But then, he set the bar REALLY high for himself.

Since everyone is (rightfully) talking about his 2009 mashup, let's just link to it already.
