So this Marine walks into a public restroom. There is a little boy at the sink, and he looks at the Marine and says "WOW! Are you a real Marine?!" The Marine says "Yes, I am, son. Would you like to wear my hat?" The little boy says "Yes!" The Marine puts his cover on the little boys head. All of a sudden this drunk Sailor walks in, his dixie cup all askew, dress blues a mess. The little boy says to him "WOW! Are you a real Sailor?!" The Sailor says in a smartass tone "Yeah, kid. Why, you wanna suck my dick?" The little boy says "Oh no, I'm not a real Marine, I'm just wearing his hat!"

Damn, I thought the headline was going to be one of those, "I was in the Marine Core" stories.

Indubitably: Indubitably: Nothing To See Here: Freakin Wanna-be

Nope.

Don't need to be.

My manhood is not defined by how many men I've killed.

It is measured by how many I have teached.

Word.

Often you can teach many men by killing the right one.

Pocket Ninja: Cyberluddite: You mean "Marine Core Soldier," right?

The single most beautiful thing about that thread is that, years later, "marine core soldier" remains some of the lowest-hanging and yet most succulent fruit on Fark.

Although the Fly Navy outing is still my absolute favorite of these particular thread types.

Absolutely, the Fly Navy outing thread had more sheer beauty in the outing and the subject's reaction to it, but it didn't have (as you point out) the lasting legacy that the "Marine Core Soldier" one did.  Not to mention that the "Marine Core" guy was, in general, an even bigger douchebag than the Fly Navy guy. In fact I would argue that he--or maybe it was his wife--was Fark's most annoying douche of that era.

Obviously, You mean "Marine Core Soldier," right?  Still one of my favorite "fake soldier" moments on Fark, and not just because I happened to be the one to point it out in that thread.  Semper Fib!

That's the guy.  I was hoping this was another situation like that, and we'd get to make fun of the idiots who pretend to be in the military because they think chicks will fark a dude in camo.
