Didna compliment 3rotor on Puff's 1st kill either. The sm flock of wild turkeys living across the lane from us can all move fast enough to get away, esp after a coyote got one of 'em last winter.
Sorry I still couldna repair the link to the microchip tale sufficiently. Guy's dog bolted, was quickly picked  up by someone his master saw & got the licence plate #, & phone # from that. Dognapper wouldna give dog back!  But 5 yrs on, original master got his Shih Tzu back from a shelter in Indpls that scanned for the chip, & more luckily he hadna moved so his phone # was still right. Happy end. One last try, which looks better this time --

Hiro-ACiD: It is a sad season for me, as I recently lost two very fine furry friends.

Otto, aka Otto Von Bismark, aka Waggy Bum. He was my cousin Derek's dog. He had regular stay-cations at our home and was a very bright and loving animal. He was great with kids and other animals, and had no aggression in him except when it came to defending his yard from the fearsome mailman. A wicked farter too.

Mungo Jerry, aka Jibbies. He was my partner Stacy's cat, a beloved farm kitty who was too sweet and special for the outdoor life. He spent his later years living with Stacy's brother and wife and her grandmother, and was an ever-present snuggler until the last. Jibbies helped me to survive several very painful years, and I don't think I would have gotten through it without him. He loved to head-butt, rub up on my day-old chin-stubble, and claimed my lap as no other could. I will miss him always.

Thanks to all for sharing all your pictures, it is the love we live that gives us meaning.

What lovely tributes to your furry friends. Hugs!

toetag: Just what I needed. a good cat thread.

Lost my 18 year old, Wednesday. Came home Monday night and I knew something was a miss when she was downstairs in the "dog domain" and laying in front of the DOG water bowl. I'm guessing she had a stroke, her left legs weren't quite working and her eye was droopy. came home Wednesday, having scheduled an appointment to see the vet and have her put down and she had already passed.

I'm so sorry for your loss. 18 years of memories is a great legacy. Thanks for giving her such a long and loving life with you. {Hugs}

Bottom of page 5, not sure when I'm gonna catch up...but I just had to celebrate!

I'VE FINALLY COME UP WITH AN OFFERING THAT D'ARTAGNAN FINDS ACCEPTABLE!!!

Besides catnip, I mean...even though he snarfs it up, it isn't really what you might consider 'dinner'.

Slices of chicken breast, lightly sauteed in olive oil until *just* not raw, then cut into comfortably bite-gnaw-shred size pieces.

MY cats? Spoiled? What could possibly give you THAT idea?

Preparing it was kinda weird, though...
I like to use spices and wine when I cook and I had to keep remembering to 'Keep it simple- it's for a CAT'.

That's not to say he doesn't frequently ENJOY the result when I've made something complicated...
but even if I could remember right off hand what I'd made I am NOT going to make a pot of chili (sans beans), or nachos, or soup, or goulash, etc. just for D'Artagnan...

OK...for him and Riktor. The Purry Boy is rather fond of chili as well.
Still, there's a limit, right? There's 'spoiling'...and then there's going seriously overboard.

Glad you found a nom to his liking. My hubby says his mom would cut up stew beef and put little portions in the freezer. She'd thaw one per day...and that is what Smokey ate his entire life! I think he ate more meat than they did!!! And of course he loooved beer. My father in law would let him sit on his lap after dinner, while they were still at table, and he'd give him one beer cap full of liquid! I'm thinking it was the malt that the cat found tasty..(we had a dog who liked Creme de Minthe...no idea why!)

Yes indeedy, Eli the Bitey is a most handsome boy.
We could try sharing chili with at least some of The Mob Here as syzygy whizz does with D'Artagnan & Riktor.  Wakko in particular, depictured here in his first year a bit outta focus, might appreciate that.

Legend at Midnight
I had heard the legends,
Reveled in the stories,
The richness of the tale.

And so,
One bitterly cold Christmas Eve,
I snuck into the stable.

I needed to know,
Needed to see,
If the animals truly
Spoke.
At Midnight.

I hid in Big Mac's
Stall.
Knowing him to be
A gentle soul.

I could hear the others,
Settle down to slumber.
The warmth of their breath,
The scent of hay,
The barn cat snuggled into my side,

Tumbled me down,
Into sleep.

I woke,
Startled.

Left the stall.

The animals were indeed stirring.
Horses chuffed as I passed,
Offering velvet noses
For stroking.

Donkey
Gazes with liquid eyes.
Begs for one more carrot.

Cow stirs in her byre.
I hear her soft lowing.

Several cats,
Wind their way,
Through my legs.

Offering their glad tidings.

The earth is still.
The sky ablaze with light.

The animals do indeed speak,
Calling us all to Love,
Cherish, Care.

Speaking,
Without words.
If only we pause,
Hear.

My parents had a cat, who loved anything with tomato sauce. I think he had a serious pica. He was our feral stray that our other black cat brought home in the midst of a wicked snow storm. My Dad named him Porky! Wow, I do miss that big fellow. He had huge hindquarters, and medium black fur. Big apple head. Tuffted ears and toes.  And the tiniest little "mew" you ever heard! Oh yes, and he had an incredibly long tail, which he loved to sweep under your skirt. And he lurved pantyhose..as in he lurved to lick your calf and then bite it...oh my, what wonderful memories. Kitteh Angels are teh best Angels!

LOL... Buddy LOVES minty things.  He'll eat paper gum wrappers and cough drop wrappers if we don't toss them into the garbage can well enough.  He begs to lick my face after I've brushed my teeth.

When he was younger, he would even nom fresh wads of sidewalk gum while we were out for walks!  His breath was so fresh and minty after eating that used gum, yet... so incredibly disgusting too.  :op

Do they make mint-flavoured cookies/treats for dogs?  Never occurred to me to look until just now!

This is Freddy the resident pet food store cat.

Last night I went shopping for a little something for my sister's cat for Xmas.  When I saw Freddy, I said hi and gave him a good scritch and took his photo, then went over to the cat toy shelf.  Suddenly I heard the staff giggling.  I looked at them and they pointed behind me.  Freddy had followed me all the way to the cat toys and was fixed on my every move!  Apparently he thinks they are "his" toys and he must guard them -- no one may take more than they need!  I asked his opinion on a soft catnip fishie for Hazel, and he approved, so I bought it.  :)

Oh lordy, I am finally able to check in and see what has been added since I last checked in yesterday afternoon. Wouldn't you know that the Caturday elves have been very busy and there are 300 more posts to check? I love you guys, each and every one! As someone said before, this is a lovely refuge from real life and the world out there. I guess I should also mention that I especially love the lurkers who finally come out to say hi and post pictures of their kitties, or stranger kitties from the internet. All is good!

I hope everyone has a peaceful and happy holiday!

Best wishes to you and yours this Holiday* season!

*in this instance the term "holiday" is intended to encompass any and all celebrations this time of year.

Caturday Farkers, please consider yourselves honorary guests on Wednesday :) My joy in this season lies in loving and celebrating the special people in my life. The ones who lift me up when I'm down and allow me to pick them up in return. Ergo I host a "Boxing Day Brunch" for all of my friends. Pajamas are mandatory. BYOB for those who indulge. I provide everything else. Streaming/DVD movies on 2 TVs all day long. Starts when you get here (no earlier than 9am please) and ends when you feel like leaving. Got kids and wanna bring em? Bring em. Got kids and don't want to bring em? Surrender them to a family member or find a sitter. And if you have to work on 12/26 go there in your jammies. Tell em I said so!

Mrs. B4 frowned heavily on my shenanigans today. At least she hasn't detonated anything around me or sabotaged anything, so I think I'm good. Long day at work planned tomorrow, so one picture today. The Hippo decided to eat Chimichanga, Gnocchi, Muenster, and Rootbeer today for some reason. We've had this Hippo for 13 years now. I got it for the wife when she was pregnant with our daughter, and we found it last year in a box of baby clothes. These four terrorists have absolutely claimed it as their own, so at least it's getting some good usage now.

Lars HATES anything with mint.  (unless it's catnip, which isn't a terribly minty type of mint).  He gets the funniest look on his face when I'm chewing mint gum or decide to have a mug of mint tea.  Cassie pretty much loves the smell of anything hooman food related.  She always has to sniff my hands and face after a meal.

Really bad pain day/night.  Must be a storm coming.  I can hardly walk or even move.  Finally decided to sit down (before I somehow managed to fall down) and check out Caturday.  The guy is officially home for good!  So very excited!  Now to work on phase 2... **Sigh**  Anyway, I love you guys, ladies & critters!

Happy Caturday everyone!

o, about 30 minutes ago, I was at CVS buying paper towels, and I saw they were selling a replica of the Charlie brown Christmas tree.

So I bought one.

I set it up, and Sophie immediately wanted to play with it.

I didn't like the way that chair in the background looked, so I grabbed a bulletin board to take a better picture..

So Sophia gets a little more aggressive with the tree now.

Then this happens...

But my tree was awesome for FIVE whole minutes!!
