Holy new way of doing things, Fark!  It took a while to figure out how the hell to post a pic!

You're welcome. It wouldn't be pre-Caturday without you.

As to posting, I posted some tips upthread in case you need them.

"I think I hear Santa" is the first picture I ever saw from Fark way back and got me interested in Caturday. It still makes me laugh!

Me too!  :)

That kitten is so darn cute.
Wonder what he looks like all grown up?

Oh, too funny!  Great minds think alike, I guess.

Came across a halfway decent picture of Hex:

lh5.googleusercontent.com

Hex is the monster kitty, tipping the scales around 20 lbs. and about three feet from nose to tail.  Hex can put his paws on the kitchen counter and those gawky ears are like bat wings.  Everyone who comes by asks if he's part panther.

And Hex is a gigantic sweetie and possibly the most gentle cat I've had.  He  loves bellyrubs.  Hex rolls right over and makes little grunts while you rub his belly. He's also Mr. Congeniality at the vet - the staff passes him around for purrs and snuggles.

Oddly, I found him at a casino.  I was having dinner there and heard a cat crying.  Looked up to see a security guard carrying him outside.  After finishing, I went out and Hex was near the door, crying and trying to get back inside.  People were kicking him away and he seemed desperate and pathetic.  There are no nearby homes, so someone must have dumped him in the parking lot.

He let me pet him right away and followed me over to the car.  Hex got right in, quietly purred on my lap on the way home and moved right in.  Zero fuss.  Well, Birdie was pissed off, but they cuddle and clean each other today.

Hex doubles as a garbage disposal.  He'll eat just about anything.  No food goes to waste here.

Happy Winter Solstice, everyone!
From today on out, the hours of sunlight will lengthen.

Finished passing out the last of the truffles today!
Costco has some chocolate truffles this time o' year which are deadly delicious- rich, almost buttery in their texture, and just sweet enough to offset the chocolate. Mmmmmm...
Every year, I give them to the library, the local health and mental health clinics, my vet, the valet parking dudes and staff at physical therapy, and the pharmacy and automotive folks at The Store Which Must Not Be Named. This year my dentist and his wonderful staff got added to the list as well.

All year, these good folk bust their butts to give good service to a frequently...um...difficult clientele. Figure they deserve some recognition and appreciation...and if it takes the form of wondrously good chocolate, well so much the better...stuff is supposed to be good for one's heart, right? RIGHT?

Need to do just a bit more procuring of gift cards- then (gulp) the wrapping.
Got my group home a practical gift...half-dozen bath towels. I need to run them around the sewing machine* to reinforce the edges before I wrap them up. Got the guys some individual goodies too...figure towels comes right up there in getting clothes for Christmas when you were a kid.

Was taking some catnip for the group home's cat Charlie and managed to break my catnip jar.
WAAAHHH!!! I've had that jar for over 20 years! It actually made me sad, and not just because I had to sweep up broken glass...I'd gotten rather attached to it. Silly, huh?
It was just a little glass Smucker's jelly jar, but it had its own space in the cinderblock and board bookcase, and the cats recognized the jar. I'd bring it out and they'd go into their 'Happy-happy-joy-joy give-it-to-me-NAOW' song and dance.
The visual recognition also helped when I wanted to convince them to hurry up and come inside...bring the jar out, hold it up so they can see it and I am TRAMPLED by cats in a hurry. Same thing with the treat jar, except that signal is auditory- "rattle rattle rattle".
CHARGE! Better get outta the way quickly...the two big cats are pretty substantial.
Only problem is I have to put out two kinds of treats. Riktor and D'Artagnan absolutely LOVE GreeniesTM...but Wimsey and Raven prefer the ones from Purina, thank you...

Need to cook up some of the ground chicken I bought for D'Artagnan, see if that is acceptable. The panther-boy does NOT like the gushyfud that the other cats happily inhale, but I just don't feel it's fair (or helps the social dynamic) if he misses out on treats that the other cats are getting. "I offered it to you...YOU'RE the one who didn't like it" is just not something cats are equipped to understand...or appreciate.
Not sure how much I'll be around this weekend...lot of last minute preparation- you know how it goes.

Wishing everyone a wonderful day!

* I do this with all new towels, sheets, pillowcases. Sounds a bit OCD, but reinforcing the hems and edges prevents ravelling or coming unstitched. Actually does save time in the long run...
