"A survey released by Fairleigh Dickinson University earlier this year determined that Fox News viewers were actually less informed that Americans who watched no news at all. In fact, at least seven studies in recent years have confirmed that Fox News viewers are more likely to be misinformed than other Americans."

I watched Fox News one night. I wasn't sure if I should start with my insane giggling or be horrified. I went with "horrified" and turned it off. Dudes, like, really? It was some weird stuff they were selling, but not the kind I'd ever buy.

Well, alcohol is a wonderful preservative. Just didn't work too well for this dude. Must have been some really crappy beer he was drinking.

I went to the Titan Missile Museum south of Tucson a few months ago. On the way back we were talking about how crazy it was back 'in the day' with Duck and Cover and post-nuclear war movies and bomb shelters and so forth. We flipped on the radio and ended up finding Sean Hannity as he was interviewing Oliver North for his futuristic book set in 2032 that was, according to Sean, exactly true. We laughed and laughed and laughed. It was too crazy to take seriously. And yet I know people who do.

I missed Art Bell right then.

I am sad to say that one of my cousins is a prepper. He lives in Norway. Who is gonna mess with Norway? They don't bother anyone (usually), so "prepping" for something that will most likely not happen is just silly. The Germans aren't really a threat anymore, IMO, so prepping for what? Invasion of a shirtless Vladimir Putin? Norwegians are the rich ones in that region, so I guess if he wants to hoard food "just in case", knock yourself out, dude, you can, like, totally afford it. We Cali dwelling relatives will merely stockpile weapons and ammo and take it from you when we finish building a long ship. The crazy is far extended in  my family, but at least we're not Hannity type crazy. Just "get away from me *smack!*" or "I'm armed, MFer" crazy.

I think I heard Hannity once or twice and had the same reaction as I did to Fox News. I sometimes wonder if they actually believe this stuff themselves, then remember about other people like Ann Coulter and realize that some of them do. That is scary. Can't we all just sit around, hold hands and sing "Kumbaya"? Yeesh.

don't worry, i'm sure someone will be along shortly to tell us all how Fox News is 'merely there for entertainment' and that any/all consequences that might result from their slanted propaganda is entirely and completely the fault of someone else.

Well of course. One of his quips in the 90s was something along the lines of 'no need to read the news as I will tell you what is going on'. Usually this was either right before or after his statement that his listeners didn't need anyone to tell them how to think (bashing the MSM).

yes, actually.  Limbaugh is starting to really get desperate.  look, he's cost his bosses a ton of money, the GOP leadership is starting to see him as more of a liability than an asset and EVERYONE else in the talk radio biz is looking at him as the reason they're all losing money.  His enemies are mounting and he's got NO friends.  a couple/few allies but nobody to watch his back that isn't already on the payroll.

I think that's why he's he's pushing the talking points and not venturing forth on his own.  he's trying to play nice with his fellow nutballs, blend in, be one of the pundit crowd.

And this is exactly the reason I don't find it necessary to listen to Rush Limbaugh every day to know what he's going to say.

I follow the show if/when there's a big story on the news.  its interesting to see what the GOP response is going to be for the week.  Limbaugh is usually one of the big names to set the right wing tone on major policy points/issues.

I gotta say tho, lately Rush hasn't been very useful.  the GOP as a whole is probably in the weakest position i've ever seen - nobody is holding them together, there isn't a recognizable leader and I think their unity is starting to fracture.  they're starting the process of figuring out who to blame for their losses in the past election and none of the GOP insiders want to catch that blame.  watching them try and come to some sort of consensus is fascinating.

"Most Muslims are terrorists and don't believe in Jesus Christ."

It's sad how shoe-on-head retarded most fundies are when it comes to Islam.

Pretend you're a fundy. You believe Jesus is God, you're against abortion and homosexuality, etc. For some reason, you want to take sides in a shiatty ethnic conflict 8000 miles away. Do you support:

(A) The people who think Jesus is a great prophet and saint, though not God. They are even more strongly against abortion and homosexuality than you are.
(B) The people who believe Jesus was at best a fraud, at worst an evil man boiling in shiat in hell. They generally support abortion and homosexuality.

If you chose (B), congratulations! Your framed Jesus-with-M16 print will arrive within 4 to 6 weeks.
