IronJelly: No.It ranked Diablo 3 ahead of Torchlight II. Left 4 Dead 2 wasn't on the list at all. Penny Arcade's On the Rainslick Precipice of Darkness 3 wasn't on the list at all. CS:GO wasn't on the list at all. This is some forty-something almost-gamer who writes for a website doing a hasty search before submitting an article.
IronJelly: Incorrigible Astronaut: A game that came out in 2010 wasn't on the list of the best videogames of 2012? Shocking!it did? I bought it in 2012. I think you're thinking of the first one. I might be wrong though. It's almost 5 here, and i'm ready to go home.

IronJelly: my mistake, i meant Left 4 Dead 3, which came out sometime in 2014, like 8 months after valve promised it.
antidisestablishmentarianism: From that list I've only played Halo 4 and just started AC3. I've heard good things about the walking dead game, has anyone played it?
redmond24: Personally I'm tired of the gimmicky arcade games. They have no stayinng power. I forget I even played them.
redmond24: They should have thrown swtor in there, too.
scottydoesntknow: I played the first two episodes, it's a lot of fun, but don't expect it to be an open world adventure. It's pretty much point and click with a few QTEs thrown in. It's much more about the story and how it ties into the comics/TV show.
redmond24: I have dishonored but can't play it. They tell you that you can play it any way you want, but quite literally if you don't do everything the stealth way, you don't get the "good ending".
Dimensio: Would Xenoblade Chronicles qualify as a 2012 game?
sprawl15: Hotline Miami really was fantastic.

They tell you that you can play it any way you want, but quite literally if you don't do everything the stealth way, you don't get the "good ending".You mean going through the entire game willfully slaughtering every individual (whether they're an actual bad guy or just some underpaid lackey with no idea of what's really going on) might have consequences on the final act? Who knew. That's my favorite thing about the game. I played a full stealth run, and ended up with a happy ending, but it was actually much harder to do. I then played a full no-holds-barred slaughter everything run, and it was almost simplistic and not very challenging, well except for the final act which punishes you for slaughtering everything you see by adding a shiat-ton of bad guys. I think that's a great mechanic.
meat0918: Is FTL really worth it?I almost got it when it first released on Steam.
emonk: So the WII platform really is dead, huh?I'd be bummed but I haven't had much game time lately anyway...
mamoru: No "Sleeping Dogs"? List fail. The list overall isn't that bad, but missing that is a huge oversight. It's one of the most outstanding games of the year. Not only one of the best 30, but easily one of the top 10 and probably even top 5.
