Yawn.

If I ever decide to commit felonious actions and don't want the authorities knowing where I am, I'll just duct-tape my phone to a chicken and set it loose a few miles from my house. That ought to keep them busy (especially considering they'd probably find it inside a coyote's stomach).

Just toss your phone in someone else's bag. Instant alibi.

desertfool: fusillade762: duffblue: But according to the left, these people can be trusted to do no wrong. Why else would they ask us to voluntarily turn in our firearms?

Yeah, it was the left, all by its lonesome, who passed the Patriot Act.  Thank God for those conservative patriots at the ACLU for cluing us in on this.

Seriously, what color is the sky in your world?

Which is why I wanted Senator Feingold, the ONLY ONE who voted against the Patriot act, to run for President.

I was one of those retards who voted for Obama thinking "Hope and Change" would mean the repealing of the PATRIOT Act. Instead he signed a four year extension.

To answer your question: Orange, like my Guantanamo jumpsuit.

badhatharry: Huck And Molly Ziegler: If a person possesses neither cell phone nor credit card in this day and age, how "invisible" is he?

That makes you suspicious. You must be up to no good. You will have to be watched the old fasioned way.

Ah, but that's much harder to do, and subject to being discovered.

Moral of the story - if you are planning a crime, leave your phone with an accomplice that is at a benign location and will randy send out innocuous texts.

irreverend mother: And I don't actually care if anyone knows where I am. I never go anywhere exciting. I'd actually feel sorry for anyone assigned to spy on me. They'd be so bored.

So what would happen, if some heinous crime happened roughly the same time you were in the vicinity. Police get the phone records of everyone who was in the area, and you're one of them. You don't have a good alibi. Perhaps they find some trace evidence that could be interpreted as linking you to the crime. What then?

What if the only real evidence they have is those phone records, and yours is the best fit? Perhaps the actual perpetrator doesn't have one, or left it at home by way of an alibi. What if you end up becoming the next Richard Jewell, because your phone data falsely betrayed you?

Don't even bother with that: Get an app that will send out pre-programmed, scheduled texts, and leave it at home. Instant alibi: You were at home when the crime happened.

duffblue: "But according to the left, these people can be trusted to do no wrong."

Which side of the political spectrum is it that always supports the ACLU and the constant suing of Government when it goes (or threatens to go) off the rails?
Oh... that's right... it's the political Left. The Right is always too busy whining about 'weak on crime' or 'with us or against us' or some other shiat, to ever support civil liberties.

/ the only Legal Right the political right is consistently behind, is the right to profit.
// the rest is political-realism-bullshiat to rationalize the maximization of private profit as morally correct.

Lattitude is opt-in, and nobody uses it. Tried to use it while my little brother was in town, because he alternates between 2-3 places when he's here, and it's awful. There are better ways to track people.

I have always been creeped out by the damn webcam in my laptop or even webcams in general. Mostly on the off chance that someone will find an exploit to activate them. I put a small piece of duct tape over the cam so I don't unknowingly star in my own twisted reality show.

The proof of society's ignorance lies in who they vote for.
