TFA: "If you follow the natural climate cycles, we are currently at the end of a really warm phase," says Dr. Steffen Kutterolf, the lead author of the study. "Therefore, things are volcanically quieter now."

I don't think they thought their alarmist global-warming-causes-volcanoes piece all the way through

Is there really anyone who denies that volcanic activity can change the climate?

It's almost as if this sh*t is cyclical.

it's almost as if we've known this for decades, and known how to calculate what the natural cycles would be doing right now.

hint: the natural cycle would be having us get cooler.

Are there pirates in the volcanoes? Could explain a lot.

Actually, TFA is about a causal link in the opposite direction: according to this study, the climate can change volcanic activity. tl;dr: warming can melt giant ice sheets, which alters tectonic stress, which alters volcanism.

Volcanic activity and eq's are my porn.  Lately activity has increased, it's almost as if they can set each other off sometimes.

The National Geographic Channel has been telling me we are still exiting the last Ice Age, thus it's getting warmer. Are you going to argue with The National Geographic Channel?

I thought not.

It makes a pretty awesome secret base. And if you can ride your ship out in lava without burning it, you are definitely a thing to fear.

allow me to regale you with the complexities of the exotic terranes that make up the base rock of the north cascades, and the intruding volcanic activity due to the remnants of the Farallon plate subducting...

The Holocene Maximum hit about eight thousand years ago. We were slowly moving towards the next ice age.

Damn, I figured the "National Geographic" line would make it obvious my comment was sarcasm. You dudes need to lighten the hell up.

God, I hope not. It's pretty much why we have an atmosphere to begin with.

I rather agree with DDWY. I think he's jumping the gun on the end of a warm phase. The volcanoes have not yet responded to the warming.
Maybe the calm before the storm. A big one is coming. I'll say within the next 25 years.

Excellent. So now that the skeptics and deniers have admitted that the climate is changing, we can start conserving oil to and use the supplies we have to create a spacecraft to get us off this ticking time bomb we call a planet.

Glad that we can finally agree that we should be eco-conscious :)
