Kelly Walsh principal Brad Diller responded through a school district press release.

It is important for us to remember that student's are our best asset.....

Educator fail. They should put Bob the Angry Flower in charge of that school.

2012-12-20 02:08:37 PM

The gun was reported to a faculty member at about 7:45 a.m. At 7:50 a.m. the suspected student was searched and a handgun was found in the student's backpack. No other weapons were found when the student's locker was searched.
...
In an interview with K2 Radio, principal Diller spoke highly of the students and faculty.

"The whole thing from start to finish didn't even take five minutes. No injuries, no threats. The person made a bad choice. We are proud of our students for reporting the weapon."

*sigh*

It was a GlocK-47 with an eleventy-round clipazine.

FTFA  The person made a bad choice.

What!?!?  No swat team?  No arresting the individual?  No seven days in jail while being interrogated?  No three year juvenile  detention sentence totally ruining the individuals life?  No suicide at age 23 because the individual wasn't able to build a decent life?

Its like I don't know my own country anymore!

Just remember what happened the summer of 2001, it was the summer of shark attacks. Media focused their eye on the subject and reported on them. Stats were no worse that year than any other but it seemed like the oceans were swarming. Course once 3 planes had crashed never heard about it since.

And rumor apparently is that on social networking sites, tomorrow is the unofficial "Bring your guns to school to help avert the apocalypse" day.

At least that's what the fearmongers wanting page clicks over at ABC News were saying last night

It's like the weeks after 9/11.

Every time an airplane was diverted because of an unruly passenger, every time someone spilled the non-dairy creamer at work, or a diabetic opened a packet of artificial sugar, and all the other minor incidents that normally fall beneath the noise radar of the media... all of a sudden, make the national news.

Because we keep watching. And clicking. Over and over and over and over again.

The student has not been identified and remains in the custody of the Casper Police department.
Kelly Walsh principal Brad Diller responded through a school district press release.

Where the cops will make sure he goes to Juvie hall and be treated as an animal, also where he'll learn from others how to be a career criminal...hey, it's worth it because REVENGE...

It was an Arcus 98 double action in 9mm parabellum. Because the suspect's friends joked that Half-Life 3 was confirmed, over and over, and the suspect just wanted them to shut the hell up for once with that stupid meme, but the suspect couldn't fit a wrecking bar in their backpack.

I don't know what's worse, the kid bringing a gun to school or the principal using "student's" rather than "students" in his press release.

If it wasn't an actual Glock it's lazy journalism, akin to calling every SUV a Ford Explorer. Remember when Fark made fun of bad reporting instead of hashing out the political issue of the week in every thread?

We feed what we fear. Our hated for something only makes it grow. Nietzsche would have fun with this.
